To be OBSESSED with what celebrities are calling their babies

I am currently pregnant after years of very expensive IVF. I know I am being a bit precious, but please go easy on me.

So, after many months of not agreeing on a name with my DH, we have finally come up with something that we love. The thing is, I am worried that one of the celebrities who have recently given birth are going to 'pinch' the name. I am thinking in particular of Chantelle & Alex, and most recently Sienna Miller has given birth. I keep Googling, like all the bloody time, to try to find out what they have called their babies. Also, I have a few weeks to go - is there anybody else I need to worry about who is about to give birth? Is anybody else in the same position?

Sorry - I know this is trivial Grin

I really liked the name DAVID and was devastated when DC became PM - the name was henceforth dead to me (as was George - sob!).

I had 2 girls anyway, but I did fret for a while re the David disaster.

I was very nervous when the new Cameron baby came along as one of the bookies fav's was DD's not too well known name (she was v young). Thankfully they didn't choose it. Everyone I mentioned it too thought I was bonkers for even giving it thought.

So I understand OP - I too have been fraught about the ridiculous Grin

Be cool, Gemma, be cool.

Loie159 there will also be lots of crazily named surgeons, QCs, architects etc.

The urge to crazyname (new verb) knows no class.

Loie159 · 09/07/2012 16:52

squoosh - i totally agree.... i was referring to OP point that she doesnt want them to have a pedestrian life or name. i was trying to point out that you can be called anything in the world but that doesnt necessarily guarantee that you will excell at school / marry a footballer / become the next Kate Middleton etc. IE Pedestrian name does not mean pedestrian life! Therefore if people have named their children exotic names in the hope they wont just be like the rest of us, then there will be a lot of people in very stadard jobs (including estate agents / accountants / social workers etc) with the most unusual names. I dont think its a class thing at all

squoosh · 09/07/2012 16:56

Ah yes. Good point. Spike Blue's mother won't be happy when he says no to a career on stage choosing instead a steady job with the council.

I was going to call my baby Tiffany (at the time of Martine McCutcheon's character), because I liked it, and used to know a girl at school called Tiffany. However, when she was born....she just didnt look like a Tiffany at all. So she was nameless for 5 days till we picked a new one! (Kirsten)

Oh yes I love Gideon but Osborne has just made it seem less appealing

MyMelody · 09/07/2012 17:13

Yanbu, I know where you are coming from op, I wish chantelle would get on with it, its getting on my nerves now!

gutzgutz · 09/07/2012 17:15

in all seriousness just think about if the child becomes prime minister or an accountant. you don't want to "bar" them with a silly celeb name. would you elect prime minister apple for example? ok maybe some would but you get my point surely? Grin

Vagaceratops · 09/07/2012 17:22

What did Chantelle and Alex call their baby?

I am not even PG and I am obsessed too. It was my favourite part about being pg - choosing names!

CaseyShraeger · 09/07/2012 17:23

I was pregnant at the same time as SamCam last time and was faintly concerned that they might use our name, but fortunately not (although DD2 does have Florence as a middle name after my grandmother)

GemmaPomPom · 10/07/2012 03:23

Sienna & Tom called their baby... Marlow.

If there is even a tiny chance that Alex and Chantelle will use your name.. it is NOT a name you want to use.

GemmaPomPom · 10/07/2012 05:33

But you never know though, do you? The name we have chosen is classless. It is not posh, nor is it 'chavvy'. It's just kind of neutral. It is certainly not a 'celebrity' name, but what's to say they will choose a celebrity name.

I realise I am being utterly ridiculous. I am worried about having this baby and I think I am using this as a bit of a distraction.

GemmaPomPom · 10/07/2012 05:35

... anyway, back on topic...

Since a bigger celebrity has just announced the name of her baby girl, I bet we get an name announcement from the Chantelle/Alex camp within a day or so. Can't have Sienna's baby hogging all the limelight - can we? Grin

I hope it's not an 'unusual' name

You know your child is only going to be unique if they're called something like Linda or Susan or Brian or Keith

It's what I did Grin

Mrsjay · 10/07/2012 08:46

penelope scotland WHAT Confused OP I am sure the celebs wont steal your name youloon Grin

GemmaPomPom · 10/07/2012 09:06

Mrsjay · 10/07/2012 11:24

GemmaPomPom · 10/07/2012 11:37

I just read that Gemma.

Do you think my Obstetrician will agree to induce me early (before any other babies are born) to save my sanity? Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/07/2012 11:41

I think you need to ask the question. Grin
