Being really lazy but....

I have this 10k run to do on Sunday.
I need an Ipod full of music to get me round.
At this stage I should point out that I will be two days off 45, a mother of five and knackered when I attempt it.

But attempt it I will in raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust (thank you to everyone who has sponsered me).

SO.... I need plenty of songs. Two fast ones, one slower, two fast, one slower for up to two hours (I am not overly optomistic re time scales).

I like rock, reggae, blues, jazz and indie type.

I dont like pop (stuff like Take That makes me stabby and may cause me to run into a lamp post).

Can you opinionated lot help me out? How many and what and in what order.

Fix You by Cold Play will need to be at the end because when I am flagging that will get me to the finish. It is the oncology mum's anthem.

I am frankly terrified.

Help me MNers please?

I am going to sort the DCs out. I will be back soon. So if you could have it sorted by then I would be very pleased. thank you very much

Most of Queen - boy are back in town type of thing, Bon Jovi?

madonnawhore · 02/07/2012 20:04

I find Livin On The Edge by Aerosmith and Good Ones by The Kills (Kate Moss's husband's band) always spur me on when I'm running. They both have nice steady rhythms.

Also, Over and Over by Hot Chip.

I have loads more but I can't think of them right now.

squeakytoy · 02/07/2012 20:05

you need things with a good steady beat.. rock is perfect, and a lot of 80's stuff is good if you dont mind that

these are some of the songs I have on my iPod for the treadmill at the gym

kiss - i was made for loving you
journey - dont stop believing
whitesnake - here i go again
audioweb - bankrobber
flashdance
come on eileen
every breath you take
dont go - yazoo

AKMD · 02/07/2012 20:07

10k? 2 hours? Bah! I'll give you 75 mins max!

  1. Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
  2. Bat out of Hell - Meat Loaf
  3. Songbird- Eva Cassidy

Is that the sort of thing? I used to do quick, quick slow with 10k playlists too

What are your views on 80s power ballads?!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 02/07/2012 20:08

First Picture of You by the Lotus Eaters

Puffykins · 02/07/2012 20:10

Simply the Best by Tina Turner for the moment at which you start flagging. Otherwise, I tend to run to stuff like the Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Shakira etc. And I fantasise about looking like them if only I run fast enough and far enough. As an incentive, it works for me, even if I am bring delusionsl...Grin Good luck!

Susieloo · 02/07/2012 20:21

Anything off the rocky soundtrack, really cliched but all my running playlists have some rocky stuff on, it just helps and they have nice 80's steady beats.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 02/07/2012 20:21

Thank you, thank you.
I need to set OH onto Itunes and get him downloading.

Long Train Runnin' - Doobie Brothers. Gets you into a good rhythm.
Chariots of Fire - of course.
Eye of the Tiger - for pure cheese to cheer you up.
Rolling in the deep - again helps set a rhythm.
The Chain - Fleetwood Mac, to chase you along a bit.

Best of luck.

wigglesrock · 02/07/2012 20:26

Alannah Myles sang Black Velvet Blush, off to have a nosy at dhs i-pod. Dds have taken mine over with Bruno Mars and 1D (see how they make me spell it!!)

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 02/07/2012 20:27

Slightly off topic: I worry about runners not being able to hear if they are listening to music while running. Can you still hear traffic, etc while listening to music?

freddiefrog · 02/07/2012 20:27

Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon
Walk - Foo Fighters
Sweet Child of Mine - Guns n Roses
