Hi

I have been lurking for a while and have actually been getting quite upset for posters when they are distressed over their situations.

Can someone please explain to me why it is reasonable to post a dilemma, ask for advice and then not respond to any posts?

We have all taken the time to think about situations and give cogent responses but sometimes there is only a brick wall.

I know that sometimes it's really difficult, but if you have managed to post asking for help, you could at least post an answer to the people that have bothered to take the time to respond.

Sorry for sounding snotty as a first poster; I am not really good at the talk thing and I probably don't get the whole website/posting business so end up very confused about the etiquette.

I don't even Facebook.

I hope you come back and read this Grin

YANBU, it drives me mad sometimes.

The cynic in me often wonders if they've name changed back and are posting replies to themselves anyway.

Thank you WorraLiberty

LottoQueen · 14/06/2012 23:25

MarkGruffalo · 14/06/2012 23:27

Tis when i do this

LottoQueen · 14/06/2012 23:28

I'm sorry, I don't understand

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:28

I think it means when they name change and then agree with themselves as if they are another person. I think. So I would post a thread then Change my name to ploppypants and say "leave kitty alone, she's not being unreasonable"

WorraLiberty · 14/06/2012 23:29

Yes I think so kitty!

I'm crap at spotting it but I do wonder if that's what some of the more contraversial post and runs are all about.

JaneaneGruffalo · 14/06/2012 23:29

Then i do this

Grin
kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:30

Eh mark? Is that what it is? Oh I'm totally wrong then

JaneaneGruffalo · 14/06/2012 23:30

Bah that was supposed to follow my last comment straight away but you quick fingered ladies just took the funny out of it!

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/06/2012 23:31

I love your name MarkGruffalo. In our house the Gruffulo is actually Mark Ruffulo's ugly brother.

I think people get answers they don't like and run away.

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:32

Oh dear. I'm not very bright. I should have waited for the punch line. Oops.

LottoQueen · 14/06/2012 23:33

For a minute, I thought it was directed at me. My life is complicated enough already.

OP posts:
kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:34

Hmmmm, mark ruffalo couldn't have an ugly brother....yum

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:35

No no lottoqueen. I'm still getting to grips with things too. Noone explains things round here. Now off to your pit, young lady!

MarkGruffalo · 14/06/2012 23:40

And 2...3...4...
Bdum tish
Tis hard to do, this name changing mallarkey
Bit like Clark Kent Superman
Not like this couple

kitty i was much too slow!
mrsterrypratchett tis an in joke in our house whenever we see Mark R in anything same as Janeane Garofolo (except she has only really ever been in the truth about cats and dogs) such fun Wink

MoonlightandRoses · 14/06/2012 23:40

kitty - they don't? Then do make sure to google anything anyone tells you to! It won't traumatise you for life or anything, oh no Grin

OP - YANBU, it is a very strange thing to do, unless one is an under-bridge dweller type.

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:44

I agree moonlight, there is definitely an amount of trip trapping going on with some of them. Light the blue touch and sit back and enjoy the fireworks. I googled dragon butter and was very disappointed.

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:45

Oh and welcome lottoqueen! (Noone welcomed me when I joined. Sniffle)

MoonlightandRoses · 14/06/2012 23:48

Ah, but dragon butter is rather tame compared to some of the things on here.

Welcome OP, and kitty Grin

Feels a bit cheeky saying that, mind you, as I'm a slightly newbie poster myself...

MarkGruffalo · 14/06/2012 23:49

Hello Lottoqueen

I don't know why either. I have received a couple of nice pms in the past thanking me and had thanks online but have also had complete non-responses.
That said I have a couple of pms myself in my inbox to reply to cos I was brought up proper like
I think either
a) the OP lurks
b) real life gets in the way
c) there are rude ignorant people and there are nice appreciative posters
d) they didn't like the responses and didn't find any useful and threw dummy out or did not get the opinion they wanted (in which case don't ask the question)
e) they forgot to come back
f) the problem resolved itself or escalated
g) they were tra la lalling (living under a bridge/making it up)

I do not facebook either. Welcome!

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:49

Aw thanks moonlight! Shucks. And welcome backatcha. I'll keep googling then!

kittyandthefontanelles · 14/06/2012 23:51

I don't Facebook either.

MarkGruffalo · 14/06/2012 23:55

and greetings Kitty Did you know fontanelle means fountain? I used to wiki fontanelle all the bloody time whrn my DDs was sunken or bulging -spent most of her first year doing that. Most things get explained eventually although noone has told me what a wolef is or confirmed tis religious Confused must have been before my time
