I know it'd then go to Harry but what if Kate were pregnant, would it then go back to the child once he/she were born?

"I had no idea that a girl of William would be Queen, I assumed her brother would be first in line"

Your assumption is currently correct.

Unless and until the proposals discussed last autumn are actually turned into law, then a younger brother will be first in line. It cannot be spun on good intentions. There is no change until there is a new law.

Shhh Rusty, no one else seems to have noticed! Wink

I was wondering if legitimacy still counts. If they all (including Harry) had died in a boat sinking and then Pippa popped up and said that Harry had knocked her up (well they are rather chummy) would the baby be an heir to the throne?

After all if it's good enough for the CSA it should be good enough for the monarchy.....

mammasiciliana · 06/06/2012 15:37

They'd have to go on Jeremy Kyle for a DNA test Grin

Ithinkitsjustme · 06/06/2012 15:47

It's about the only thing that would make me tune into Jezza Grin

Yes, illegitimacy still counts. Any love child of any member of the royal family would be excluded from the line of succession.

HRHCavey · 06/06/2012 16:26

Didn't they do an alternative royal bloodline on tv a few years ago, based on the assumption that (as often rumoured) Edward IV was illegitimate?
Following that line, the current monarch is a bloke living in Australia called Michael.

nagynolonger · 06/06/2012 16:37

If they all die the line passes to Princss Margaret's children and GC and then onto the Kents and Gloucesters who I think are the present Queens cousins. We won't ever run out of royals.

Kayano · 06/06/2012 16:39

I think if they all died I would prefer the Aussie bloke Michael to some other royals lol

ComposHat · 06/06/2012 17:47

Would Andrew try to ursurp Harry by claiming he was illegitimate? Even if not true there are runours, we could be waiting on DNA results!

Best episode of Jeremy Kyle..ever! I want DNA test, lie detector tests, the whole shooting match.

Sleepdog - last one that did that was ginger too! He did have rather a few more wives though...

It might be interesting as a TV show, but as rumours on fatherhood have been around since the 1950s, does anyone care enough now?
