An axe certainly is more British

Hullygully · 01/06/2012 11:55

Anne Boleyn was chopped by a sword, by a Frechee expert brought over special (thank you dear Hilary Mantel)

This is all very well, but who would be first for the chop?

cory · 01/06/2012 12:25

I love that bit in the Blackadder Civil War episode where Cromwell flings the door of the prison open and tells Charles I to Prepare to Meet his Maker and Stephen Fry in his best Prince Charles manner putters up to the executioner and starts burbling on about how he always enjoys meeting people from the manufacturing industries. love it, love it, love it

Trills · 01/06/2012 12:38

I just told you what Google told me... thought it could be one of those things that is on a different day each year because of the MOON or something likethat

Hullygully · 01/06/2012 12:59

"Pick up your weapons we will storm the Bastille and release the prisoners!"

"Oh hang on, it's an Egg Moon. We'll have to do it day after tomorrow."

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 01/06/2012 13:04

Isn't easier to just line them up against a wall and shoot them?

Mind, I'm not sure who 'them' actually is.

Do you have a list I could see?

EchoBitch · 01/06/2012 13:06

Prince Andrew should be first up.

Greedy bugger.

LiberteEgaliteFRIGGernite · 01/06/2012 13:07

Ooh,I feel at home here...it's gone all royalist mental out there ...

My neighbour has adorned her house in British flag bunting,my DD is making all sorts of royalist shite craft at school...

I reckon I might just stay here, keep cover till its all over...

StealthPolarBear · 01/06/2012 13:08

If were talking a comedy guillotining, can I nominate Cheryl cerl?

AThousandSuns · 01/06/2012 13:08

Guillatines were used by the French - correct? They thought our methods of hacking a head off in several strokes was uncivilised, so they made up the guillotine to cut of the head and kill someone as quickly as possible and hence without pain.

Now using a blunted axe, that's british. Properly blunt, mind you. That way it won't come off easily. Oh, it'll break their kneck and likely kill them, but the head won't come off for a while.

If I was to execute someone, I'd slowly lower them into a giant blender powered by a V8 engine feet first. So that it would take, I don't know, ten minutes to get to their knees? And make the blades red hot so that it cortorises the wounds imediately. Don't want the bleeding to death.

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 01/06/2012 13:10

Wow, AThousandSuns, you've thought about this way too much.

::backs slowly away::
