I think a single day with a few programmes on tv and a speech and maybe her own garden party and THATS IT! Why do the whole lot of them have to tour the bloody world making their presence felt colonial style! Bloody ridiculous when you see the rest of the news. A new yacht would be the limit

aquashiv · 01/06/2012 11:04

Think most shops have gone rather mental with it all. Most people I know just going with the flow.

rainydaysarebad · 01/06/2012 11:36

Haven't read the whole thread - can't be arsed. Why can every other country in the world have a fun day but not England? We need something like this to boost morale during this recession and crap that's happening in the world. Stop being a spoil sport. Wth are people trying to stop people from having fun in the world? Children aren't allowed to run around barefoot, everyone is complaining about the hot weather which is funny because it's NEVER hot here...stop being depressing.

Hullygully · 01/06/2012 11:37

He's buffed enough now. Let the poor man go.

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 01/06/2012 12:01

I was going on about Syria Grin

And we spend shitloads on loads of other stuff but that's by the by. The money wouldn't go into the pot for all those care homes that are being closed - it just wouldn't. Not the way the economy works.

So shall we cancel the Olympics as well as that's costing a whole herd of cows shitload more?

Hullygully · 01/06/2012 12:07

YES CANCEL THE STUPID STUPID OLYMPICS

I sent my daughter to school today dressed from head to toe in red, white and blue. And painted the cross of St.George on both of her cheeks. And she looked blardy magnificent. God Save The Queen. I love her!

PrincessPinotPartyPants · 01/06/2012 12:19

I support the Olympics too

FannyPriceless · 01/06/2012 12:23

I feel so embarassed at how excited I am!ConfusedBlush I am actually a republican (last time I checked my brain) but I don't know what has come over me.

I am just off to town now to collect a doll, a crown, a load of bunting supplies, and a stuffed corgi toy dog.Shock I fully intend to win the house decorating competition for the village celebrations. This is not me. I have been possessed by the evil royalist demon, I swear.

Shoot me now.Blush For the love of god, please...

We are all so proud to be british and full of love for our royals that we forget the escalating levels of poverty and bankruptcy this country faces. Bread and circuses indeed.

I have been playing the Sex Psistols god save the queen to dcs to balance things a bit.

Hullygully · 01/06/2012 12:28

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
THE FASCIST REGIME etc

OP posts:
peanutbutter38 · 01/06/2012 12:28

yes, loving the Queen and the monarchy also makes me forget the rest of the world and the the poverty and all the bad stuff in the world! WTAF?

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 01/06/2012 12:33

kissmy I'm quite good at multi-tasking. I can do both.

lashingsofbingeinghere · 01/06/2012 12:46

So if we ditch the RF and jubilee knees-up then redistribute the wealth, how much will we all really benefit, in terms of extra pounds in our pockets? (Bearing in mind the monarchy costs each UK taxpayer about 62p a year.)

And when we have spent this largesse, what then? Who can we blame for the UK still being heavily in debt, the world's poor still remaining poor, children still dying of curable diseases and dirty water? The Jubilee may be bread and circuses, but doing away with it and the RF will change nothing. And we'll all have missed a big party.

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 01/06/2012 12:58

Agree with you lashings but disagree that the Jubilee is bread and circuses. Apart from comments about the class system, the RF has no impact on my life whatsoever. And the class system would still exist without the RF.

As for the comments about little girls wanting to be queen, I think it must be a bloody awful life. I'll be telling my daughter to thank her lucky stars she's not in line to inherit a title which affects the whole of the rest of your life whether you like it or not.
