To complain about school

DS is in year 8 and his regular English teacher wasn't there today so the head of English taught them. Since its hot she opened a fire door which leads out to metal steps. DS had a headache and asked to stand outside and the teacher refused. Apparently he kept asking and the teacher said she wasn't letting him out. She told him if he was really ill to go to the office so be did and I've had to collect him. He now admits he doesn't feel ill but he did have a headache which he feels would have been fine if he'd been allowed out! Aibu? The teacher shouldn't have kept him in should she?

Hope you are ok, huddlecuddle. You sound like you've had a shit day :(

FallenCaryatid · 28/05/2012 18:49

Because she had to leave work to go and collect him presumably.
I've had to do it a few times at very short notice and neither my boss nor the parents of the children I taught were sympathetic or understanding.

FallenCaryatid · 28/05/2012 18:51

I'm sorry your son is a PITA, but one more warning. I'm glad you aren't going to complain, because that may mean that any time in the future your son claims to feel ill, the school will phone you to come and get him.
Every time.

Dprince · 28/05/2012 18:51

I take there is more to this. Do you have to leave work alot for him? Are there other factors in your life? It seems a fairly small thing to fall apart over, tbh.

lambethlil · 28/05/2012 18:55

Poor OP. Enjoy your evening and I hope work is OK when you're next in.

1950sHousewife · 28/05/2012 19:20

Oh no. You sound so stressed. I hope you are okay and that work won't be too angry with you.
You DS deserved a rant, but now go and make up with him.

I feel like a mean bully now for laughing at this one. Sad

FallenCaryatid · 28/05/2012 19:23

I don't feel mean, because I've had so many parents who have done something along these lines and haven't come to their senses.
I'm delighted that you have, OP.

I think you have 4 children? With this DS being the oldest one?
Enough to stress anyone out I think. Smile

don't be ridiculous. you are being so unreasonable its beyond belief. teachers have to deal with 25 plus at a time - you can't make different rules for your little darling. in a classroom, the teacher is in charge, not twenty five doting mummies.

lovebunny · 28/05/2012 19:26

and no, i didn't read the whole thread, so my message is way out of time!

lovebunny, read the thread, the OP came back.

LynetteScavo · 28/05/2012 19:28

Sorry, X posted!

FallenCaryatid · 28/05/2012 19:28

You mean in the way that I'm writing my reports, but I always check them thoroughly before handing them on down the line. Because sometimes I write them when I knackered and ...I tell the truth.
Fortunately a friend and I proof-read each other's reports, and not just for grammar and spelling errors. Grin

MigratingCoconuts · 28/05/2012 19:29

this is a wind up...right?? Confused

MigratingCoconuts · 28/05/2012 19:33

ok, just read op's follow up...as you were!! Grin

{{{hugs}}} huddlecuddle. Sorry if I was harsh. I have three teenage boys and I know they can be little sods.

Hope you are having some Wine and relaxing now.

Kewcumber · 28/05/2012 20:20

"Never mind, at least you posted here rather than emailing the school" what Maryz said.

Hopefully DS is feeling chastened and won't do it again.

My (very wise) mother says that the teen years are natures way of helping you let your children go!

LaurieFairyCake · 28/05/2012 20:25

Ah bless, poor you.

Teenagers are just awful sometimes.
