Babies in leather jackets or jeans?

I have just seen a 2 week old baby in jeans, trainers and a leather jacket. Isn't that going to be a bit uncomfortable? Trainers? they'll come in useful and don't get me started on the Harley Davidson jacket...

People can dress their babies how they like.

But I expect you will get loads of 'I dressed mine in babygrows until they were 16' answers

Nobody on MN ever admits to putting their babies in clothes! I don't know where all these people are because I have never yet seen a baby other than a very new one in a babygrow in the daytime. DS had jeans as a baby. They're soft and lined with comfy jersey - no buttons or thick seams like adult ones.

By the time I had my 3rd it was sleepsuits for months, the first had jeans and trainers

I'm sure the baby would cry if it was uncomfortable

I think a lot of baby clothes are designed to look like adult clothes, but are made of soft material. So long as the baby is comfortable, I don't care what it's wearing unless it's something simply offensive.

YABU - nothing wrong with clothes on babies, they are people too, just small people.

Mine lived in sleep suits for the first three months because I was terrified of breaking him and could barely bring myself to dress myself let alone anyone else but when he did start wearing clothes I delighted in putting him in little outfits. I never went for a leather jacket look but he was certainly in jeans by the time he was 4 months. So what?

Babygros till they start to crawl imo. I'll raise you a baby in jeans, trainers jacket and baseball cap angled off to one side. Why why why?

Some of the offensive ones make me laugh. Ah well. So long as the baby is comfortable and not too cold or too hot, it really doesn't matter what they are wearing, does it?

Because it's hilarious to dress babies up! A friend bought DS some trainers and we have a great photo of him in polo shirt, jeans and trainers looking like a little bald pub landlord. I've also enjoyed putting him in a shirt with a bow tie and in cords and a tank top like a mini professor. It always brings a smile to people's faces when babies are dressed up.

baseball cap? really? I should add that it was 42c here today so a leather jacket wasn't ideal, even just from car to mall is a few minutes.

Baby denim is completely different to adult denim, it's really soft and stretchy.

I do not, however have any issues with dressing babies up, especially at Christmas. otherwise what do you embarrass them with later on?

I wouldn't, but mainly because the jeans that we were given for DD (hand-me-downs) made the back of her knees sore.

So I have done it.
she looked well cute in the dungarees.

Going to sound shallow, but babies are boring so I found it fun dressing my pfb when we went out any other time he was in baby grows

Feak - our dungarees were normal denim.
very stiff (but we put tights under after the knee problem)

The only part of that I would raise an eyebrow at is the trainers, a baby do young doesn't really need anything but socks on his feet

I am being lighthearted, of course people can dress their babies in what they want. I just think it looks really uncomfortable. Like I said, reindeer, father christmas, pumpkins etc are fine and I don't think it matters what they look like. Personally I don't really like the leather jacket thing but I have been guilty of a pink headband buying spree. I didn't think about it when I wrote this tongue in cheek but I really didn't mean to offend anyone who does have these things. Feel mean now.

Most people I know (and people I see out and about) dress their babies in baby versions of adult outfits from the word go.

I don't get it personally, the babygros look so lovely and it is the only time of their life that they can wear them. I shouldn't imagine that such outfits cause any discomfort though - they will have been designed to be comfortable for a baby to wear. I just think they don't look nice on a little baby.

I love jeans on my baby DS - genuinely didn't realise people were judgy about it! Confused Next do the best ones, with stretchy funky waistbands.

I like doing things that people judge me for though so will add it to the long list.
