Babies in leather jackets or jeans?

I have just seen a 2 week old baby in jeans, trainers and a leather jacket. Isn't that going to be a bit uncomfortable? Trainers? they'll come in useful and don't get me started on the Harley Davidson jacket...

Was it real leather? I only ask because both mine were very prone to puking in the early days. Either one of them would have ruined that lovely tacky leather jacket.

I dressed mine in day clothes and then babygros at bedtime but only Asda outfits as I am too stingy (and skint) to spend a tonne on clothes for a person who doesn't literally give a shit what they wear. Smile

Does anyone else bloody hate doing up babygrows? All those poppers. I was so happy when I started to find two-piece PJs for DS.

DD is 17mo and she wears the things I am too fat too old can't get away with.

She owns various band t shirts including stone roses, guns and roses and the jam. (I am keeping all of these) and she has really soft jeans with a fabric liner. Today she was colour blocking Grin

Yes I hate the poppers on babygrows!!! DS is now 3 weeks off his 1st birthday and thankfully doesn't wear them anymore as he is a wriggly little so and so. Can't be arsed.

My ds still wears all in one suits during the day but I get ones without feet, he is 5 months and they are different from his bed time sleepsuits. He just looks so cute in them! And when he wears tops they ride up to his armpits when I pick him up!

The only jeans he has got are gifts which I do put on him too but I wouldn't buy him stiff denim. I think because small babies are mainly laying down or rolling about on the floor their clothes should be soft and cosy! As an adult having a lazy day at home would you wear stiff jeans and a button up shirt?

Ds is 8 weeks ang beeb living in babygrows. We were visiting family a few days ago so I thought I would dress him up a bit, make an effort. Within 10 minutes of putting jeans, polo and jumper on he had his first ever leaky nappy incident and ended up with poo inside all of his lovely clothes (including his socks??) - I have taken it as a lesson and we're now back in babygrows...

My aunt bought my 3mo dd some jeans but I've only put her in them once when we visited her! She wears a tshirt and leggings during the day and only put her in baby grows at night so she learns that its bed time!

UnCharteredromaeosaur · 23/05/2012 20:42

i hate 'proper' clothes for babies 'cos how the fuck do you iron them?

they're too small to get in all the little areas - babygrows are great, tumble dry then put on

Booboostoo · 23/05/2012 21:35

Everyone here (France) dresses babies, even newborns, in full outfits plus shoes. I have lost count of the number of times I have been criticized by friends and complete strangers for taking DD out in her pyjamas (= all in one)!

My DS has never worn a sleep-suit unless he was in bed.

I've always dressed him in proper clothes; jeans, trainers, sandals ect.

lolajane2009 · 23/05/2012 23:12

mine always wears clothes but never shoe and he is 8mths. i'd never do leather jackets though.

I read a thread about this once and someone claimed they had not let their two sons wear jeans until their 18th birthdays! They were made wear trackies because they were soft. I don't even think they were taking the piss. Everytime I see an adult in trackie bottoms and clumpy outdoor shoes I think of that thread and laugh.
Only time I have seen a baby in leather jacket combo was Baby David in the Royle Family. Leather jackets? Baseball caps? I have not even seen older people wear them in recent years.
