To think that the Queen of England won't notice if my DD is wearing summer uniform and

texting me today about her wearing it tomorrow is too short notice?
Queenie is coming to our town tomorrow, DD was one of the lucky 35 to be drawn out of a bag to go to see her.
I've just had a text from the school advising winter uniform is to be worn. I only put her old one in the recycling bag two days ago.
Very cross.

Stupid phone typos, sorry!

ripsishere · 16/05/2012 14:19

I think you can look up her diary in the Times.

It isn't HMQ setting the dress code, it's the school.

The key question is whether they will allow DD to go if improperly dressed.

Can you ask the school this evening if they can help you round up some spare winter items? (Lost priority, medical room spares etc?)

ripsishere · 16/05/2012 14:28

Probably won't allow her to go. Luckily they've agreed (grudgingly) to have a look in the lost property. I can wash them and hope they dry overnight.
Still really cross that they left it till the day before.

Who the fuck is the "Queen of England "? Confused

KurriKurri · 16/05/2012 15:49

If it was HMQ setting the dress code, then your DD would have to wear a lavender Coat-Dress and ludicrous hat. Maybe she's got off lightly Grin

ifeelloved · 16/05/2012 15:52

I really don't think the queen gives a shit, it is the school demanding the dress code, not the queen!

ripsishere · 16/05/2012 15:54

Agreed and apologies if I upset anybody in the Uk or commonwealth.

Ah, you've had a name change then? I think we talked about the wonderous market adverts! I go onto a local forum (about local history, I'm doing my family tree) and people on there were moaning that the visit is only 40 mins long in total so not worth the effort.

ripsishere · 16/05/2012 17:10

Yes, I name changed when I became a wolef and never changed it back.
Local market is a big pile of poo and YY to the 40 minute visit. According to the source of all local knowledge (Guardian) she is going to Albert Dock for lunch.
Although, I may take DD along to the Premier Inn to see if she is there.

Why are they making them wear winter unifrom when they had already changed to the summer one, totally bonkers and i really doubt the queen gives a shite which one they are in, unless summer uniform=bikinis.

ImaginateMum · 16/05/2012 17:46

Maybe she cares after yesterday's hail at Richmond - fed up with seeing cold schoolkids!

sashh · 17/05/2012 06:09

You must be in the NW? She's in Burnley or Blackburn or something today!

The poor woman.

Yes, it's sorted. It did throw up something for consideration next year. For their leavers mass, in July, guess what they need to wear?

wibble73 · 17/05/2012 07:06

How old's your daughter? What's the difference between the summer and winter one?

LynetteScavo · 17/05/2012 07:12

I bet they will all be wearing coats any way.

The queen will not give a flying anything what your DD is wearing. And anyway, at the end of may I think they should all be wearing summer uniform to meet the queen.

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 07:15

She is just 11.
Winter uniform is warm bottoms, shirt and tie. Summer is gingham dress or shorts and polo shirt.
Glad she will be in the winter one. It's perishing.

The Duke of Edinburgh might comment on it if she was different. They met a group from DCs school, and they have four slightly different logos on their sweatshirts (to match their houses, and siblings follow in the same house to make hand me downs easier), and he asked them about it. Personally I'd never get rid of uniform until the end of the school year (or when they've left).

Hopefullyrecovering · 17/05/2012 07:16

I'm jolly impressed that you're on texting terms with the Queen. Does she sign off 'LOL'?

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 08:53

Grin at texting.
TBH, since we are moving away from this area and I only have one child so no one to pass stuff on to it made sense to get rid of it.
Anyway, she's gone now. She was really pleased with herself because there are only 35/180 ish going. Wearing the winter stuff will mark her out as special in DDs land.

sashh Bit rude, that. i agree however

HandMadeTail · 17/05/2012 09:03

DD went to see the Queen on Monday. They were required to wear summer uniform. She stood in the cold for 3 hours, for one glance at an old woman in a big black car.

Luckily the parent helpers were very generous and bought socks for them to put on their hands like mittens, and hot chocolate and cookies to try to help warm them up. I was very grateful to them.

Mrsjay · 17/05/2012 09:05

I thought Queenie had text you Grin , I dunno can you borrow the uniform is it poloshirt or blouse and tie , if its a blouse and tie i guess she will look Odd but i dont think the queen of UNITIED KINGDOM will mind ,
