This morning, my son - the 15 year old

........ who cannot get out of bed.
........who misses two school buses a week because he gets out of bed at 0750 (bus leaves at 0800).
........who sits on the sofa and stuffs food wrappers down the side rather than walk across the room to the bin.
.........who goes to put something in the dishwasher, but when he sees it is full of clean stuff having just finished its cycle, stacks plates and cups up on the worktop waiting for someone else to empty it.
.........who puts clean clothes in the laundry basket rather than fold them up and put them away.

was downstairs in the kitchen today, dressed in school uniform, at 0730, emptying the dishwasher with a cup of tea made for me on the table.....
ConfusedShockConfusedShockConfusedShockConfusedShock

Is he on drugs?

Is there a major unreasonable request coming up, requiring girding of the loins......

Help!

Moomins are scary

MySweetPrince · 02/05/2012 12:50

Aaaah.....he's asked what time you will be home? Meaning what time is he likely to have the house empty for bringing new girlfriend home!

GinPalace · 02/05/2012 14:03

I don't usually do this but.... I have marked this thread to 'watch' so I can find out what the holy mary is going on??

Hope he doesn't break into your MN account and find your thread - might put him off being nice for life... or he's realise his Mum has a sense of humour and respect you even more. Arf!

Moln · 02/05/2012 14:19

ah no don't let it be bullying, let it be an older girlfriend. went to school with a guy that always had old older girlfriends (he was lined up to play for a big football club, may have been the reason for the long line of them). He wasn't very Kevin like at all.

Another theory: maybe you're too good/relaxed at being a parent to teenages, and have it spot on and there is just now point been all stroppy and kevin like, so he's given up and decieded to be a human instead.

bintofbohemia · 02/05/2012 14:24

How very unnerving!

(My first suggestion was going to be check him for tattoos!)

thebody · 02/05/2012 14:28

Well if it's a Tatoo like my oldest ds had done at 17 I found out as he had left the appointment card in jeans pocket the numpty!!!

My guess is nice pretty girlfriend who he wants to shag/ impress.

PleaseChooseAnotherNN · 02/05/2012 14:45

Ohhh I was hoping for an update.. Tattoo is a good one, though he could just keep the inked area covered and continue with usual kevin behaviour.

Maybe he was asking when you will be home so that he and his pregnant lady can make The Announcement!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 02/05/2012 15:50

arf @ sniffing him! Surely as a teen boy he either has eau de Lynx or 'needs a shower' Grin

takeonboard · 02/05/2012 16:34

Is he home yet Rhino?.......can't wait for an update!

finnbarr · 02/05/2012 17:47

It's a virus or something!!! Mine has come home and done THE SAME THING....am now trying not to hyperventilate!!!

IWantSummer · 02/05/2012 17:56

I want an update Grin

AuntieMaggie · 02/05/2012 18:03

lol Finn

Mama1980 · 02/05/2012 18:07

Lol Finn am hoping it doesn't spread to my 14 year old would be too disconcerting Grin

Rhinosaurus · 02/05/2012 18:12

Shock @ Finn!

Perhaps it is a virus, set by aliens, infecting them through Facebbok and x-box?!
Do you think we should notify somebody?

Or it could be a viral countrywide attempt to confuse and discombobulate parents in preparation for a coup?

No news I'm afraid. I got home at 5.30, his Perry type mate was around, as Kevin had told him the local business wanted more holiday staff, so perry was dropping his very large typesize half of A4 CV round there to see if he could get a job too.

I did valiantly attempt to get to the bottom of things when I had young kev on his own, and said outright, "is there a reason you're being so good lately?" to which he said "I'm always good", which is now worrying me, delusional psychosis? Is there such a thing?

Or him and Perry are saving up for something they have planned like a summer holiday or festival..... or they are both having babies

Oh yes, sorry I forgot. The dog is fine but looking on edge and very nervey - she doesn't like change.

Hi ,can I join in Smile. This is a thread that has made me giggle! As the proud MoB 12, 15,and ds1 just turned 17 I'm going with the festival theory. Wakestock is in July to which my ds1 is off with 8 mates, less profile than V and cheaper. Your boy sounds a star. Grin

VeronicaSpeedwell · 02/05/2012 18:23

The suspense! What if he really is just reformed?! This thread have to carry for good fifteen years before anyone is quite sure.

heronsfly · 02/05/2012 18:28

I think his pretending to be an adult, because he thinks you will then let him hop off abroad with his mates and or girlfriend, and pay of course Grin

Mama1980 · 02/05/2012 18:30

Oooohhhhhh yes he wants to go in holiday so is 'proving' he can be responsible Confused

ChitChatFlyingby · 02/05/2012 18:31

Oh I want to see the updates on this!!! My eldest is only 5, I need to know what to dread look forward to!

Northernlurker · 02/05/2012 18:40

I love this thread too Smile

I keep swinging betwwen explanations.

Maybe he has just realised what a lovely mum he has and how much you do for him.

Good Lord! Look everyone! Over there! A saddleback with wings.............Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/05/2012 18:43

This could be ds3 - in your situation we would be checking the bank account, iTunes bill and xbox account.

I am hoping and praying that whatevwr is causing this will infect my dses.

Rhinosaurus · 02/05/2012 19:01

I have just got back from spar, had to get bread as The kids and Perry had eaten a whole loaf making per-dinner toast and golden syrup sticky kitchen to clean up now. Bought a pack of cornettos for the kids, called upstairs to the bedroom dwellers and Kevin came down in his pants, as he is trying on all his clothes to "sort his wardrobe out". full laundry basket tomorrow then

Aaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh I can't take it anymore....... What the heck is he up to? I'm living on my nerves I tell thee.

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2012 19:04

Stealth boast there Rhino-going to Spar Grin. The prices in our local Spar are Shock

He will be taking a nice big bag of clothes to the charity shop tomorrow. Grin

Chilenachica · 02/05/2012 19:14

The virus clearly hasn't reached the southern hemisphere yet, DD1 was in full Kevlarita (only 10 so can't qualify for full Kevlara status for a couple of years) mode this morning.
