For being annoyed with SIL

For my 30th I had planned to go to Paris with DH as a once in a lifetime weekend! Away from kids too...was so excited

Then found out from someone else that SIL and BIL are planning to go the month after me just cos they can...they knew I was going and they'll bling it too so my birthday weekend won't look so special

Really annoyed :(

Who does your birthday weekend need to look special to? It's your birthday. You go and enjoy your weekend, no one else will really care.

BonnieBumble · 17/04/2012 21:39

Eh?

ginmakesitallok · 17/04/2012 21:39

Are you going away to have a lovely time with DH or to have a holiday that "looks special"?

Fifivisage · 17/04/2012 21:39

I dont understand what the problem is.

Slambang · 17/04/2012 21:41

Oh sorry, I'm going to Paris too. I didn't realise it was yours. Hmm

Sarcalogos · 17/04/2012 21:42

What is 'bling it'?

Yabu

restrains self saying more in case scary mnhq delete me

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 17/04/2012 21:42

When I started reading I thought you were going to say she was letting you down re childcare!

This is a non-issue - her having a wonderful weekend away in Paris will have no bearing on your trip!

If you were going somewhere a bit random I might be able to see your point but Paris is a very common and easy place to visit.

Babylon1 · 17/04/2012 21:43

YABU Sad

ErikNorseman · 17/04/2012 21:44

Don't be daft.

ThereGoesTheYear · 17/04/2012 21:46

What a strange concern!
How long are you having Paris cleared of people for?

t0lk13n · 17/04/2012 21:47

yawn....if that is all you have to moan about...YABU!!!!!!!!!!

ramblinrose · 17/04/2012 21:48

YABU
And very silly.

2rebecca · 17/04/2012 21:50

YABU. Their trip to Paris will upset yours how exactly?
If you're only going to show off to relatives it all seems very silly.
You'll be able to discuss it afterwards and compare experiences, you'll be able to recommend places for them to go.

fluffiphlox · 17/04/2012 21:51

You what?

BaronessBomburst · 17/04/2012 21:51

Er, so what? You'll have been there first and can show them all your photos and spoil it for them. as I'm sure they won't ever have seen a picture of the Eiffel Tower before, which will just ruin the surprise Hmm

ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 17/04/2012 21:52

Creamcakeoff.

You need to practise your Gallic shrug.

Comme ci, comme ca.

Can't do accents without revertin to carpphone and I'm not going there.

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 17/04/2012 21:52

Do you want it to 'look special' or be special?

Also confused.

verytellytubby · 17/04/2012 21:53

Aye?

squeakytoy · 17/04/2012 21:54

But how will your weekend be any different whether they go or not???
Confused

KurriKurri · 17/04/2012 21:54

Paris is one of those annoyingly popular places that can get double booked.

Peterhead can be very pretty at this time of year.

pumpkinsweetie · 17/04/2012 21:55

YABU- i dont see a problem? It sounds almost like a competition to see who has the most bestest time.

Salmotrutta · 17/04/2012 21:55

Grin at *Oh sorry, I'm going to Paris too. I didn't realise it was yours

I hate to tell you OP - I've already been!! - do I win?

Salmotrutta · 17/04/2012 21:56

Peterhead - PMSL.

Cardenden doesn't get many visitors.

squeakytoy · 17/04/2012 21:56

In fact, how does it make any difference what anyone else thinks? How will it make it less special for you, unless you are only bothered about other people and their opinion?

Your break in Paris is YOUR break in Paris, it doesnt matter to anyone else, it is for you to celebrate.

Alargeglassofred · 17/04/2012 21:59

YAnBU. I'd be well miffed
