To be really pissed off with my friends?

It is my birthday on Saturday and I have tried to arrange a curry night for my friends and I and one by on ethey are dropping out. I am particularly upset with one friend who promised that she would go to a spa day with me but now she has her period and can't (fair enough) but now she can't come out for the meal either as she is staying at her abusive on-off boyfriend's house. Some friends havn't even got back to me.

Looks like I don't have any friends then. Sad

maybe they are dropping out so they can attend the secret surprise party they have organised for you?

Kayano · 28/03/2012 21:29

If your in NE I'd go
For a curry with you

No friends here either

Maybe we could create a MN curry club

FourEyesGood · 28/03/2012 21:29

How does having your period stop you having a spa day? I've never had a spa day but I don't imagine there's much vaginal stuff... Confused

Sorry your friends are so shit. Get in touch with the ones who haven't got back to you and tell them you're really looking forward to seeing them on Saturday. They might simply have forgotten to reply to you and need a reminder.

ViviPru · 28/03/2012 22:23

I struggle to imagine Kayano with no friends around - you're always so nice.

OP, the ones that haven't got back to you are just wrapped up in their own lives and just need a nudge.

Come on, Aries. Be strong! :)

toptramp · 28/03/2012 22:29

Trouble is I am more of a Pices than an Aries. This is why I hate birthdays. Big deal to me; not so much for everyone else. A year older and not wiser and lonely. There is too much expectation heaped on birthdays; rather like Valentines day etc. grrr.

WhereMyMilk · 28/03/2012 22:30

It is DD's birthday Saturday! Have a lovely day anyway,x

ifeelloved · 28/03/2012 22:31

Was also thinking maybe a surprise party Grin

ViviPru · 28/03/2012 22:33

Sad oh toptramp, chin up, lovely.

Why not use this birthday as a marker to give yourself some goals and work towards making some progress by this time next year? So that next birthday, you can feel wiser and you never know, you might not be feeling so lonely Thanks

Sootie · 28/03/2012 22:35

What is it with Aries women and lousy birthdays?! Third person (including me) who's posted on here about being upset due to no one making a big deal of their birthday. How crap.

ViviPru · 28/03/2012 22:40

Well I'm an Aries too and I sometimes feel a bit disappointed (this birthday excepted - if you've not heard me blabbing about that all over MN then you must have been hiding under a rock) Anyway, for me its because I make such a fuss and effort for others birthdays, my own always feels a bit of a let down. And I always put a lot of pressure on myself to have the best time and I always want everything to be brilliant. In all fairness though, DP, my Mum and a couple of my girlfriends tend to treat me.

ifeelloved · 28/03/2012 22:42

I'm aries too and will be very upset
If there's no fuss this year!

darthsillius · 28/03/2012 22:47

Are you me? Its my birthday on Saturday and "friend" has just cancelled a spa day tomorrow with a cold. Not even bleedin' flu. She did the same on my hen night and even more annoyingly once when I had turned down work to go out (I used to freelance).
So now I have 5 hours free tomorrow and a budget of £40.

I really want to cancel mine as am job hunting at the moment and being a year older just seems to be another strike against me!

ViviPru · 28/03/2012 22:48

Happy birthday lovely lambs.

sandyboots · 28/03/2012 22:50

but if there's no surprise party OP's going to be even more Sad

don't worry OP plenty of friends on MN Smile happy birthday for Saturday
Thanks

Sootie · 28/03/2012 22:51

ViviPru - I'm the same. I always make an effort on everyone else's birthday, and tbh my own family do make me feel special and treat me, but I'm always let down by DH and that hurts more than friends or family forgetting/not making a big deal. He did step up eventually this year though...hopefully next year will be the same!

OP - I hope you do end up having a lovely day!

toptramp · 28/03/2012 22:53

Believe me; there won't be a surprise party. My friends are not THAT considerate tbh. Everyone is so busy and it is birthday season so lots of kid's birthday's onsaturday.

My best mate is down in Cornwall with her boyfriend so she won't be coming out for sure. This is the friend I am most hurt by. she PROMISED me she wouldn't lunch me out for her man and she has. He has NEVER, EVER come up here to visit her family or friends. She does ALL the running. He drinks heavily and every time she gets away from him he class and says he has changed and she goes back to him. He is abusive but I just have to be there for her whenever they split up which is every month. Then when she takes him back she is not there for me. Should I be pissed off at her or supportive as he is an abusive arsehole?

ExitPursuedByABear · 28/03/2012 22:58

Vivi - Oh go on, spill all over this thread as well Grin

OP - How old will you be on Saturday? Chin up lovely, it really is just another day.

But I do make great cake. Where are you?

toptramp · 28/03/2012 22:58

I think I just need a new set of friends. There is another friend and I went out for her birthday; I even went for an expensive meal at the restaraunt where my ex worked for her (even though I din't want to bump into my ex) and she has lunched me out too.

OP posts:
toptramp · 28/03/2012 22:59

It's my birthday today Blush

Happy birthday to you, toptramp Smile

If you lived near me, I'd come - I love a good cuzza.

darthsillius · 28/03/2012 23:06

Still at least you aren't going to be 12 years older than that. That's really depressing!

ViviPru · 28/03/2012 23:06

Ah Talc I knew you were one of us Wine to you, wonderful woman :)

TalcAndTurnips · 28/03/2012 23:08
