To ask other mums on MN not to use the F word?

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 08:52

I am a newbie. I find that F word is peppered in a lot of the threads. I used to swear a lot but I have stopped completely because I realize it's common, and makes a woman sound undignified. Is it too much, ladies, to ask you not to use F-ing thsi and F-ing that? Can't we adults discuss things without resorting to sailor language? Thank you.

Alouise

'Munting' shocked the hell out of me. What a word that is. Shock

ObviouslyOblivious · 13/03/2012 09:16

Release the arbitrary bees!

blonderthanred · 13/03/2012 09:16

Shit, I'm pregnant with my first having got amazing support on MN whilst ttc for a year. Now I find I shouldn't have been here at all.

BuckBuckMcFate · 13/03/2012 09:16

Ooh I said Fuck on here at 7:30am.

In the context of a not sleeping ever for 16months child I think fuck is totally appropriate.

Whatmeworry · 13/03/2012 09:16

I just assumed MUMsNet means most people here are female and mothers like I am

How do you think we got to be mothers :o

(Waits to see how many are virgin births or turkey baster babies....)

Fiderer · 13/03/2012 09:16

Wind up, surely? Snort at "full of uneducated people who have little faculty of their language."

I have to use sailor language because I am a sailor and what else to call the fucking boat, fucking jib, fucking fucking boom (ouch), fucking marina fees and that fucking arse who forgot the rum?

Will no one think of the sailors?

Icelollycraving · 13/03/2012 09:22

This is a thoroughly delicious thread.
This is not the site for you. Does The Daily Fail have a forum? That may be more to your liking.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2012 09:23

Don't forget, Fiderer, the fucking Republicans. Grin

HugADalek · 13/03/2012 09:25

I was doomed from the start, my dad was a fucking squaddie, and my mum was from fucking Glasgow. I have to tell her off in the car for her road rage swearing, have had to teach the kids that dickhead, wanker and fuck are just words that we don't repeat as they are for grown ups, fancy that.

lambethlil · 13/03/2012 09:25

Raspberry you don't have to swear to fit in, you don't have to post here or even read the threads but it's not realistic to come into any established group, be it social at work or a forum like this and suggest changes.

SOH, I think you can pretty much call House and walk away with today's cash prize... right down to the PA :)

Impressive stuff!

Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 09:26

I'm not a newbie, I've been here for far too long years.

I like the swearing.

So it stays.

Now fuck off Grin

squeakytoy · 13/03/2012 09:27

You wouldn't want your child to say that word, would you?

I wouldnt want them to have sex, drink alcohol or smoke a cigarette either.. but when they are adults they can do what the fuck they like... Grin

Seabright · 13/03/2012 09:27

Am rather amazed that OP has been offended by my post (see her 9:03 post) when it contained no swearing at all!

I suggest she's smug with a big ego, yet I'm the one with a problem?

D0oinMeCleanin · 13/03/2012 09:28

I often wonder about the thinking behind these threads. How do you think it goes... "I know what I'll do to today. I'll join an online forum that's been established for years and has a good sense of community and I will ask it's users to change the way they post, because of course they will all bow down to my superiority. They'll never in a million years tell me to fuck the fuck off because they are clearly happy with the forum of their choice as it is" Hmm

So it's only mums who can't say fuck then? Can we still use the term cunty chops? It's one of my favourites.

impossiblesitu · 13/03/2012 09:29

Would you prefer the C-Bomb? I quite like to use cunt in all possible ways -

You are a cunt
Oh just cunt off
What the cunting fuck (sorry!! how unladylike of me) do you think you're doing?

etc

Better Grin ?

impossiblesitu · 13/03/2012 09:30

Doinmecleaning - DP was a total cunt last night and your post has inspired me to tell him to 'fuck the fuck off'. Thanks.

ShatnersBassoon · 13/03/2012 09:31

"You wouldn't want your child to say that word, would you?"

You're dead right there. I also don't want them to drive the car, drink beer, operate heavy machinery, watch 18 films, sign legally binding contracts...

I can do whatever I want, because I'm a great big grown up lady. It's my privilege to swear with gay abandon whenever I see fit.

Does People's Friend magazine have a forum? I bet they don't eff and jeff on there. Go find them, my sensitive colleague.

ShirleyKnot · 13/03/2012 09:31

I am offended on behalf of the Navy.

NoDontLickThat · 13/03/2012 09:31

I opened this thread thinking, 'oh god, another one of these threads', then seen the first reply was from fluffywuffybunnymummy and almost spat my porridge out laughing so much! Grin

tantrumsandballoons · 13/03/2012 09:32

I WOULD LIKE TO ASK ALL MN MEMBERS TO REFRAIN FROM TALKING ABOUT COOKING AS I FIND IT PATRONIZING AND OFFENSIVE SIMCE I DO NOT COOK.

THERE WILL BE MORE SUBJECTS I WOULD LIKE TO BAN WHICH I WILL POST LATER ON.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR OWN

NOW FUCK OFF WinkWink

Seabright · 13/03/2012 09:32

I see OP is now referring to "blacks and gays". I think we are now seeing what the OP is really like and what her beliefs are. Nice.

D0oinMeCleanin · 13/03/2012 09:32

If he was really bad you need to tell him to "fuck the fuck off you stupid cunting arsehole and when you get there fuck off somemore. Fucking twat" Not that I would ever say anything so unladylike regularly Grin
