To ask other mums on MN not to use the F word?

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 08:52

I am a newbie. I find that F word is peppered in a lot of the threads. I used to swear a lot but I have stopped completely because I realize it's common, and makes a woman sound undignified. Is it too much, ladies, to ask you not to use F-ing thsi and F-ing that? Can't we adults discuss things without resorting to sailor language? Thank you.

OP - your grammar is horrendous. Please amend before criticizing our language or just fuck off thanks

TheBigJessie · 13/03/2012 09:32

People on MN are generally amenable to a reasoned, cogent argument about offensive words; so if you make one of those, I'm sure we'll stop.

catgirl1976 · 13/03/2012 09:33

Oh dear.

I'm reasonable and educated. I still say fuck though.

Do you know what is "common and very much marks you out as being so despite your non-sweary ways? The use of the word "common". Very non-u I'm afraid. If you are trying to better yourself socially for some strange reason, you're doing it wrong.

impossiblesitu · 13/03/2012 09:33

Oh doin you have inspired me. His cuntiness was of such magnitude that I may just write that one down or be REALLY mature and send it via bbm (I won't).

Fillybuster · 13/03/2012 09:33

Tantrums ShockShock I can't believe you used the C word!!!

squeakytoy · 13/03/2012 09:34

be fair, OP didnt bring up black or gay first..

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 13/03/2012 09:34

I think we should ban capital letters tantrums Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 13/03/2012 09:34

SoH Housey Housey! You just won yourself a crocheted toilet roll cover :o

Al0uise · 13/03/2012 09:34

I'm not going to get any fucking thing done today now that there is this thread to play with.

Where is AnyFucker?

In fact I may have to nc to incorporate a fuck into my name.

TheBigJessie · 13/03/2012 09:35

Oooh, here's a good argument, actually, on the first page.

"yanbu
if it is in the thread title, I cannot read the juicy threads at work"

horsesforcourses1 · 13/03/2012 09:35

OP My Mother always told me that people who swear do so because they lack the vocabulary to express themselves properly?? LOL

Clockingout · 13/03/2012 09:36

I saw someone use the term 'fuck off to the far side of fuck' here a few weeks back, I love it, I mutter it to myself, the cat, annoying people off t'telly, its really been cheering me up.

I did wonder on seeing the title of this thread whether it was fuck or feminist...

redrubyshoes · 13/03/2012 09:38

I think we may have lost a member of Mumsnet.

She has gone very quiet.

How fucking rude.

TheBigJessie · 13/03/2012 09:39

squeakytoy

Actually she did. raspberrypi 09:10:35

"PurplePidjin, Oh sorry I just assumed MUMsNet means most people here are female and mothers like I am. Apology if I don't include fathers, blacks, gays, etc"

It's such a cliché. Very disappointed in the OP.

Oh and OP, my cousin is a Lady.

She says fuck all the time :)

I shall tell her you think she is doing the titled thing all wrong

She'll just tell you to fuck off mind :)

D0oinMeCleanin · 13/03/2012 09:40

I actually didn't swear that much until I joined MN. I have learnt so many new words and phrases Grin

I still don't swear that much in rl but when I do I try and fit as much profanity into one sentance as I can. It's actually quite theraputic.

MadameChinLegs · 13/03/2012 09:40

But if you are not a Mum you can fucking swear all you fucking want. Fuckers.

ShowOfHands · 13/03/2012 09:40

I know no sailors (though dh has his bronze swimming certificate) but I have seen Titanic. Can I swear?

It's not full house yet. OP is not a she. I can't prove that. He isn't though.

It's textbook.

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 09:41

Redrubyshoes, I realize mumsnet is not for me. It's full of childish, opinionated people obviously get some sort of dig out of being rude. Who are you people? And mums, supposedly ? makes me worry about the attitudes you?re passing onto your children.

OP posts:
LadyClariceCannockMonty · 13/03/2012 09:41

I'm not a mother so I guess I'm exempt.

But before I do any gratuitous swearing to prove how uneducated I am (apart from my degree, which presumably is negated by the words I'm about to use), I'd like to just laugh in the face of that old chestnut about people swearing because they don't have enough vocabulary to express themselves otherwise. Simply, it isn't true.

Actually, OP, come to think of it, most swearing on here is not directed AT other posters (which I agree is rude, aggressive and almost never called for). Mostly it's just people letting off steam and using swearwords creatively and often to hilarious effect.

Anyway:

fuck
fuck
fuck
fuck fuck
fuck fuck fuck
fuck fuck fuck fuck

PS 'blacks and gays'? True colours, OP?
