To ask other mums on MN not to use the F word?

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 08:52

I am a newbie. I find that F word is peppered in a lot of the threads. I used to swear a lot but I have stopped completely because I realize it's common, and makes a woman sound undignified. Is it too much, ladies, to ask you not to use F-ing thsi and F-ing that? Can't we adults discuss things without resorting to sailor language? Thank you.

Indeed Purpke.

What about fathers, for example? They really suck! All of them! I have statistics I just made up to back it up!

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/03/2012 09:12

This is a wind up from a regular isn't it.

GeekCool · 13/03/2012 09:12

and makes a woman sound undignified.

You may as well as said 'it's so un-lady-like' shudder

OhChristFENTON · 13/03/2012 09:12

A very reasonable request OP, I actually can't believe all the harsh responses you are getting here. You ought to be ashamed, you've let yourselves and mumsnet down badly.

I for one will never swear on here again.

Fucking never.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2012 09:12

We're rude? You should look in the fucking mirror if you want to see rude.

Pascha · 13/03/2012 09:12

I agree with OP. You lot please would you all just stop fucking swearing.

ObviouslyOblivious · 13/03/2012 09:12

Ah you can be racist and homophobic but just don't swear :o

Sockspence · 13/03/2012 09:12

Should one immediately lose the right to a broad spectrum of language when one becomes a mother?

Should the Bounty lady take my obscenities as well as a dreadful photo when she prowls the post-natal ward?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 13/03/2012 09:12

there are gay mothers and fathers too you know

tantrumsandballoons · 13/03/2012 09:12

And calling us uneducated as well?
Shall we make a list of all our professional qualifications?
Would we be allowed to swear then?

And what about pregnant women? Can they say fuck then?
Or fathers, grandmas etc?

Please fuck off to nethuns

LentillyFart · 13/03/2012 09:12

@ NoWuckingFurries - both post and NN.

Fucking brilliant!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 13/03/2012 09:13

and even parents who are sailors..if they can't use sailor-like language because they are parents it will get very confusing for them..

Pascha · 13/03/2012 09:13

Ooh. At the risk of feeding the namechanger, can black people and gay people not be mothers also?

Snakeonaplane · 13/03/2012 09:13

I don't like people talking about breastfeeding could I request that from this day on we no longer use the word breastfeeding on mumsnet after all we would hate to offend some people.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2012 09:14

What does being mothers have to do with it? Are mothers not human? If you cut us, do we not bleed? If you anger us do we not tell you to fuck off to fuck off and when you get there fuck off some more?

blonderthanred · 13/03/2012 09:14

Great dirty minds think alike, AI0uise.

TheSkiingGardener · 13/03/2012 09:14

raspberrypi I hold a Masters degree from Oxbridge and am doing another Masters. I also am a Mum. I also say Fuck occasionally.

I'm sorry I don't fit into your arbitrary bees of how we should all be and behave. I do recommend you stick around though. You may learn something about diversity and tolerance (and no, I'm not referring to men/blacks/gays)

TheSkiingGardener · 13/03/2012 09:14

bees should obviously be boxes. Apparently Apple disagreed with me.

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 09:14

I could post something rude to fit in I guess, but sorry I am not going to lower myself.

Oh ... actually, you do get points for 'little faculty of language' cos that's just a beautiful one.

Sockspence · 13/03/2012 09:14

^check me out debating in a reasoned fashion without resorting to being a swearypants. It's killing^ me, btw.

SilentBoob · 13/03/2012 09:14

cuz black people can't be mothers? Or female?

Confused
ShowOfHands · 13/03/2012 09:15

I haven't read the thread but I'd like to play thread bingo. I bet the thread is peppered with the 'f word' . I bet the op has referred to us as 'ladies' (possibly in inverted commas), probably commented on the fact that we dare to call ourselves mothers, something about setting an example, maybe something about education?

How many did I get right? Ooh ooh maybe a passive aggressive smiley as well.

I like this website. I can speak my mind and I don't have to think about whether or not the kids might pick it up. I might be a mother, but I am not JUST a mother, I am me too.

Having a child does not mean you have to become a paragon of virtue, I mean I model good behaviour in front of the kids, I eat the fucking broccoli even though I hate it, I talk calmly and clearly about school and Cbeebies and lego and colouring in, I don't lose my temper and I try to always behave logically so that they learn about actions having consequences and stuff.

But that doesn't mean that I don't also have the immature side of me that still feels twenty one and childless, wanting to talk about nonsense and swear about shit that happens, have a giggle about things and generally relax and be a grown up too.

NoWuckingFurries · 13/03/2012 09:15

Thanks lentilly I am glad I've got such an apt name, even if I am an uneducated sweary mother Grin
