To ask other mums on MN not to use the F word?

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 08:52

I am a newbie. I find that F word is peppered in a lot of the threads. I used to swear a lot but I have stopped completely because I realize it's common, and makes a woman sound undignified. Is it too much, ladies, to ask you not to use F-ing thsi and F-ing that? Can't we adults discuss things without resorting to sailor language? Thank you.

Bonus! I'm not a mum, this I can cocking swear all I fucking like!

I knew this site was the dogs bollocks!!

NaiceAm · 13/03/2012 10:30

I once asked a man in a bar if he was a sailor - I meant sails boats as it was in Poole in Dorset in a bar by the marina and he did have sailing shoes on. I now know that asking a single man if he is a sailor does not necessarily go down too well!

A former trawlerman friend told me that they used to use a patois to get through the long days and nights at sea. They would speak in a made up language by swapping the first and last letters of every word. So in honour of him OP why don't you kucf fof kacb ot setmumn

HorribleDay · 13/03/2012 10:30

You refer to 'blacks' and 'gays' and you worry about the attitudes WE'RE passing on to our kids?? Look in a mirror, love.

Fucking astonished.

You sound like a middle aged man op, grow the fuck up.

Fiderer · 13/03/2012 10:41

Oh dear.

For those who missed it, once again, sailors' language (please be advised this may shock, esp the drawing of "Below deck")

On your own heads be it

ExitPursuedByABear · 13/03/2012 10:42

I've got a fucking English degree.

But I am common.

I once hired a rowing boat on the park lake.

I fell in. fuck.

CappyHunt · 13/03/2012 10:45

Meh. Fuck it. Bunch of fucking commoners. And?

LentillyFart · 13/03/2012 10:45

Funniest fucking thread on MN ever.

I'm quite new to MN and have yet to have cause to swear in any of my posts but having been made to feel thoroughly welcome by fellow MNers I am offended on behalf of everyone as I get what this site is about!

It actually takes a good level if education to know the art of using the word fuck in the correct context as another poster earlier in the thread advised it's many use.

This thread has prompted my very first...

Fuck Off!!

(I feel so liberated to have popped my fuck cherry! So thank you OP!)

Rhinosaurus · 13/03/2012 10:50

Thank fuck the children are at school and not witnessing my shocking behaviour

redrubyshoes · 13/03/2012 10:52

OP disappeared over an hour ago.

Gets out real persona of a genteel and educated woman of substance.

Gosh it is frightfully hard being common and talking like a sailor and all that lark. I feel somewhat faint. Loosen my stays darling-hearts and pass the smelling salts - I shall swoon now.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 13/03/2012 10:53

This, this thread right here, is why Mumsnet is brilliant

exaspomum · 13/03/2012 10:53

Of course you're NBU. It offends and is unnecessary. If it was witty.........

pointythings · 13/03/2012 10:53

I don't swear much on MN or in real life, but honestly, this OP makes me want to let rip.

Not going to though. I'd just like to point out that it's incredibly patronising to talk about women needing to be dignified (and letting men off the hook entirely), assuming that people who swear are uneducated (most of us are very much not) and using the word 'common' (may we see your pedigree, OP?)

Last of all I'd just like to point out that the only time I lower myself is onto the bog. That common enough?

Not read the whole thread but raspberry if you don't like the language why don't you just fuck off to somewhere you do rather than asking those of us who have been here for yonks to accommodate you.

I'll fucking swear if I fucking well want to and as for 'common' you are clueless. The sweatiest people i know are those who went to some of the finest and most exclusive schools in the land.

lurkerspeaks · 13/03/2012 11:01

Grr.

That should read sweariest. Not sweatiest.
