Called customer a 'tit'

youarekidding · 11/03/2012 16:02

OK, so IWBU to call her a tit but here's why. Smile

Went to Tesco - had £22ish until Tuesday and a voucher to save £4 if spent over £20 and £3 clubcard points. So add up as I buy. Came to £21.34 but some reduced items reduced further at time of scanning so scanned at £17 something - cashier let me go 3m to freezer section and grab some boxes of ice creams. (was about 10 seconds)

Cashier rang them through but 1 didn't register and the amount came to £19 something. I realised this was wrong and quieried it to the puzzled cashier who then pressed something and till registered I'd paid £20 - not my fault. And to be fair not really cashiers and she was as puzzled as me!

I looked at printed receipt and that's when I noticed the missing item and told cashier so she called for assistance.

Customer waiting started shouting at me that I should have added up shopping first - I did (explained about reduced further with apology).

Customer started shouting at me again stating 'she had plans that afternoon and didn't have all day to wait for me' I mentioned I had plans too but always plan enough time in case things at supermarket take longer. Any way she continued being rude to me - can't remember exactly what she said.

So we're waiting for assistance (about 2 minutes) and she starts shouting at me again. Ending up telling me I had held her 15 minutes now and I should sort myself out. My DS - bless him gave her the Hmm look, and I told her to

'stop being a tit and to buy a new watch as hers obviously didn't keep good time' Blush

Not my finest moment but at least my voice was quiet!

Great Customer service from tesco who charged me £16 and gave me the unscanned ice cream box for free - due to my inconvenience and the fact they couldn't fathom out to to correct the mistake. Grin

TBH OP, I would've been passive aggressively muttering under my breath. I mean, you just grabbed any old crap to bring up your total. Seems like a false economy and a waste of other shoppers' time to me. I generally don't have much extra time to build into my day.

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 11/03/2012 16:07

Sorry but I hate being behind customers like you.

tethersend · 11/03/2012 16:08

Cuntstomer.

Westcountrylovescheese · 11/03/2012 16:08

You were very restrained...Wink

youarekidding · 11/03/2012 16:09

wasn't any old crap - it was 3 boxes of choc ices. I would have bought them with big shop - I know how much they were.

The hold up was the cashier mis scanning and then the till registering I'd paid.

How the feck is that my fault?

There's an issue with paragraphs. Not your fault.

I just put three in to say; she deserved to be called a tit! Grin

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 11/03/2012 16:12

Of course she deserved to be called a tit Grin

LittlePandaBear · 11/03/2012 16:12

Okay, I would have been annoyed if i'd been behind you too, but they should have had more tills open so people don't have to queue. Some people always take ages at the till for whatever reason but it's the shop's fault for not getting through customers quicker or having more check outs open.

naturalbaby · 11/03/2012 16:13

Sounds like the kind of thing I would do with my vouchers, YANBU! sod the people behind, I've got loads of missed vouchers for money off because I'm rushing for the customer behind me.

Confuseddd · 11/03/2012 16:14

Go to a shop where you don't have to fiddle around with vouchers. Life is TOO short.

SnapesMistress · 11/03/2012 16:17

Was that the only till, if not she was a massive tit. If it was the only till then she was still a tit as she should have been harrumphing her irritation quietly like the rest of us do and not shouting like a loon.

I wouldn't say anything about it (on occasion I have been that annoying customer in front and quite often I have served them too). But it is annoying.

KurriKurri · 11/03/2012 16:19

I think most people who get supermarket rage are tits. She certainly sounds like one. Chill out people, and prepare for a few unexpected hold ups in life, then if they don't happen that's a bonus.

bobbledunk · 11/03/2012 16:28

I remember getting stuck behind someone like you when I was heavily pregnant and in excruciating pain with sciatica and spd, it was the most torturous experience of my life.

yabu and incredibly selfish. Some people are very busy, others are very sick and it's infuriating to be stuck behind timewasters who think everybody else has all the time in the world to wait while they needlessly faff around.

SnapesMistress · 11/03/2012 16:33

But OP did very minimal faffing, it was the cashier who made the mistake. No one has to stay behind someone taking forever, I have abandoned shopping when in a hurry before, its just life, it happens

SnapesMistress · 11/03/2012 16:34

Also, should she have lost money just to streamline other people through the till?

She was there first and is allowed to take the time needed to complete her transaction.

WorriedBetty · 11/03/2012 16:37

I think you should have left it... left tit.. geddit.. hahahahaha :)

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/03/2012 16:38

blimey....cant see how it was the OP s fault really, she added up, the till scanned the stuff in at a different price, its not every day you get stuck behind someone at a checkout so i cant see what the problem is, yes its a bit inconvenient but hardly crime of the century! really, some people need to get some perspective!

Tee2072 · 11/03/2012 16:43

Really, how was it the OPs fault if things scanned wrong and the cashier messed up?

The person behind should have been huffing at the cashier.

Codandchops · 11/03/2012 16:47

She sounds like a silly bitch tbh....

And oh dear there appear to a few tits on this thread too.....are your lives SO sad you get wound up by something like this - sounds to me like you don't know REAL stress.

Get a grip folks - a little longer to wait in the supermarket - my goodness what a shocker.

DoomCatsofCognitiveDissonance · 11/03/2012 16:50

I do get cross with people who waste time because they can't be arsed to get organized (you know the type ... wait until the cashier has packed everything before getting off their mobile, looking around bewildered when they're asked to pay as if the idea of having your purse ready is a new one on them, etc. ...).

But the OP here wasn't like that. She's explained a really complicated set of details but none of those as far as I can see affected the other customer - only the fact the cashier mis-scanned something. So? Not her fault.

Kennyp · 11/03/2012 16:51

I agree with cod and chops.

So what if you called her a tit and had a voucher and bought some ice cream and dithered. SFW??? Good god, i cannot believe the comments you are getting about a tesco shop ffs.

Bloody hell. Hope the ice cream is delish and the tit-like customer is realising her tit like ways and buying a super supportive brassiere to restrain her tititis.
