To ask why so many people dislike Matthew Wright?

I normally bow to the majority wisdom of MN, and if there's one thing on which most MNers seem to agree on it's that Matthew Wright is a twat.

But...he's always seemed quite nice to me. Really. I think I've said in the past that he's the kind of man I'd like to pop round and have a cup of tea with. I even once rang into the show (although I blame that incident on post natal hormones). So what's he done that's so twattish? I'm guessing there must be something that I've missed for MN to be so united on this, but I genuinely don't think I've ever heard him say something unpleasant.

I think that MW is really rather tasty . However, he does have some pretty simplistic views and sometimes I feel embarrassed for him airing them on TV! I think it would be much better if his mouth was taped up and we could just have him as eye candy.

I really like him and usually watch his show if i't lucky enough to be in at that time.

I don't get the MN animosity either and I am foul mouthed and so illiterate i'm not really sure what a harpy is.

( I agree about JK though, I don't know how anyone watches him on the tv for longer than 60 seconds without keeling over.. vile specimen)

I like to watch MW sometimes. I do find his constant insistance of how he would never lower himself to have a baby and ewww gross etc a bit trying to hard.

He used to hold the same low level opinion of marriage....

He was a child himself once too, wonder if his parents said he was gross too..

I like him, I don't get all the hate on here - people take his show too seriously. He often is just playing devils advocate to stir up some debate.

I like Mathew and his show, most of his humour is tongue in cheek and said in a teasing, not serious way but if you take him seriously its up to you.
I remember him really opening up once about how he and his ex went through hell when they were trying for a baby. I believe they tried IVF and it did not work and they eventually split up. So I really think he does not hate the idea of children and lets face it other peoples children can be annoying !

He doesn't hate women at all and actually sounds more of a feminist than many women on here. The Foxy Knoxy title was crass but the debate that resulted was actually very good and thoughtful. I don't blame him for ribbing Mumsnet.

Is this the Wright on The Wright Show? He can be a bit irritating sometimes but it's an interesting show with pretty good discussions.

I think he's funny and very clever in the sense that he's become the 'finger tapping the fish tank'...and constantly whipping the little fishes into a frenzy whenever he does
