To ask why so many people dislike Matthew Wright?

I normally bow to the majority wisdom of MN, and if there's one thing on which most MNers seem to agree on it's that Matthew Wright is a twat.

But...he's always seemed quite nice to me. Really. I think I've said in the past that he's the kind of man I'd like to pop round and have a cup of tea with. I even once rang into the show (although I blame that incident on post natal hormones). So what's he done that's so twattish? I'm guessing there must be something that I've missed for MN to be so united on this, but I genuinely don't think I've ever heard him say something unpleasant.

Hurray! Matthew Wright not universally disliked! And agree with sozzled chops - I always got the impression that he was far from being a woman hater. I do think he comes out with some simplistic/crass statements from time to time, but surely that's inevitable on a live topical debate programme? On the whole he's always seemed quite liberal, open minded and sympathetic to the underdog. In my humble opinion

I really enjoy the MW show. It is such a contrast to the Jeremy Kyle show I feel like I am scaling the intellectual heights when I leave JK for MW.

I have no defence for watching JK. It is a bad habit that is proving hard to break. Is it my imagination or is this new series even more confrontational than previously?

JK is one show I honestly can't even have on in the background because I want to pummel the twatty little man's head to a puree.

On a separate note, JK and MW are dead ringers for each other I think.

I wonder if that's why MW hates him so much?

I cannot stand JK contestants./guests, so i watch about once per year for about three seconds. I like JK though. I love Maury!

Oh, bless, he doesn't mean it! He's only joking- and it's only the humourless harridans who could possibly be at all bothered. Sometimes he doesn't think before he speaks- after all, you can't expect a professional broadcaster with a programme on prime time national TV to consider every little word he says, can you? And I bet Amanda Knox thought it was really funny- she looks a right laugh. Not like all those sour faced, dried up feminists.

Oh but I have stumbled upon JK USA, on a Saturday morning. I watch that.

I've been watching it for years and always quite enjoyed it.
In fact his constant slagging of of MN brought me here, I came out of curiosity expecting to find a bunch of very judgemental tory types, who only talked about their PFBs.
In fact I fell in love with the lovely, funny witty posters. Of course there's loads of the former, but that's why it makes it such a good place for everybody.
I'm still here nearly 2 years later, and go on here instead of watching the show these days.
He does seem to hate MN though.

Some people take themselves and MN too seriously (I guess we all do at times) but there's nothing wrong with a bit of ribbing...especially considering some of the ribbing/slating/hating/teasing of people that goes on here.
