Aww, it gets me too. Every children's book on Earth makes me cry, especially Guess How Much I Love You Sad

GavisconJunkie · 27/02/2012 20:00

It is sad, 'covered in frost...'

Hassled · 27/02/2012 20:02

Children's books are often sad, aren't they? The Selfish Giant reduces me to a mass of snotty tears. And there's one called No Matter What - I can't even think about it without welling up a bit.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 27/02/2012 20:03

YANBU. I also get a bit choked up when Tabby McTat finds himself all alone Sad

Whatevertheweather · 27/02/2012 20:04

No Matter What by Debi Gliori. Most beautiful line from any children's book 'What about when we're dead and gone. What then, does love go on? .....Love, like starlight, never dies'

Catsmamma · 27/02/2012 20:07

what about when Mog dies??

:(

annoakley · 27/02/2012 20:08

Debi Gliori is fab. A Lion At Bedtime is my favourite of hers. My daughter loved that book. Oh I've come over all teary now!

Beamur · 27/02/2012 20:10

I just read Library Lion to DD and was glad I'd given it a read through first so I was prepared for the (slightly) sad bit as I felt a bit choked reading it the first time!
My DP can't read the Selfish Giant without bursting into tears. He has not read it to DD yet as he can't guarantee he can control himself Grin

peeriebear · 27/02/2012 20:11

The Big Ugly Monster and the Little Stone Rabbit. I would not get it out of the library for DD2, it was so desperately sad!

homemadewhine · 27/02/2012 20:12

oh, i cry when tabby mctat is reunited with his tramp. Grin

AND when the snail saves the whale

GhastlyBespoke · 27/02/2012 20:14

Which is the one that goes "as long as I'm living my baby you'll be"?

I read it to DS years ago and it slayed me then. I can't read it to Dd. I just can't.

annoakley · 27/02/2012 20:17

That's 'Love You Forever' ghastly
Gorgeous book!

georgethecat · 27/02/2012 20:20

WTF! Mog is dead!?

GhastlyBespoke · 27/02/2012 20:21

Ah yes.
Thanks Annie Smile
I want to read it because it's so beautiful but I wouldn't be able to read it without bawling my eyes out.

mrspepperpotty · 27/02/2012 20:21

What about when the snail-carrying whale gets washed up on the beach?

YANBU

Bicnod · 27/02/2012 20:22

Once There Were Giants

'Then we had a baby girl and things changed'

Chokes me (and DH) up every time.

And Dogger, when Bella did something very kind

Pascha · 27/02/2012 20:24

You lot are soft!

annoakley · 27/02/2012 20:24

GhastlyI watched a youtube video of 'Love You Forever' with my niece and nephew recently and was convulsing by the end of it. Hurts even more now that my own kids are all grown up Sad

Kaloobear · 27/02/2012 20:26

'The Gift' made me cry in the kiddy section in Waterstones.

FreudianSlipper · 27/02/2012 20:29

yes it is very sad ;(

i have yet to not get teary when reading monkey puzzle when butterfly says to monkey I didn't know. I couldn't! You see, none of my babies looks like me

it's just so so sad :(

FreudianSlipper · 27/02/2012 20:31

I have stopped reading No Matter What it is just too emotional

annoakley · 27/02/2012 20:35

Does love wear out, does it break or bend?
Can you fix it, stick it, does it mend?
Gah!

JustMeAndMyBaby · 27/02/2012 20:36
