MOG DIES????????!!!!!!!!!!! ShockShockShockShock

Kennyp · 27/02/2012 20:55

I cannot read the selfish giant without crying either

My ds loves stickman and loves sticks. He is like a mad puppy, always bringing sticks home from the park. Confused

gordyslovesheep · 27/02/2012 20:58

another blubberer at the ugly monster - awful sad

also ... 5 little ducks - gets me every time - yes the song!

Portofino · 27/02/2012 21:04

Leo, yes then comes back to help train the new kitten.....box of tissues obligatory.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 27/02/2012 21:11

Sad Thanks for the warning. I'll have to avoid that one. Mog is essential bedtime reading. We've only got the first book. I know it very very very well.

WilsonFrickett · 27/02/2012 21:14

Read the Velveteen Rabbit for the first time in Waterstones while Christmas shopping.

Dear. Lord. They nearly had to get a first aider to me, big fat ploppy tears, snot, the lot.

JustMeAndMyBaby · 27/02/2012 21:16

Didnt^

Zimbah · 27/02/2012 21:20

Oh thank goodness, I thought I was the only weirdo whose voice starts going all wobbly! Sometimes I have to look away and just say the words while thinking of something else. Got 'No Matter What' from the library the other day... sniff sniff.

GetDownNesbitt · 27/02/2012 21:22

Library Lion gets me too.

And Nothing by Mick Inkpen. And Baggy Brown, also by Mick Inkpen.

Husband laughs himself daft when I have to read those at bedtime!

Neenook · 27/02/2012 21:26

Oh GOD - Puff the Magic Dragon...

A Dragon lives forever, but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys.
One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty Dragon, he ceased his fearless roar

lepetitchoufleur · 27/02/2012 21:27

Love Monster. Sooo lovely.

And yeah, Mog dies????!!!!!! WTF?

NeldaAufwader · 27/02/2012 21:29

Sharing a Shell - "Crab in the cup, Blob on the tub each one pretends to be glad, Brush doing both loads of housework knows they are lonely and sad" then the bit where they make friends 'Whelk-come home'. Oh I love it.

And the Stickman reunion with his stick lady love and his stick children three.

NeldaAufwader · 27/02/2012 21:30

Goodbye Mog is heart-wrenchingly beautiful, Mog was tired...even her tail was tired...gulp...sniff...sob. We have an ancient old Mog, I can't handle the book.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 27/02/2012 21:32

I'm sick man, of stick man, of stick man that's me.
I'm going to chop down his family tree.

We've overenjoyed this book since it came home from nursery last week

Glimmerberry · 27/02/2012 21:33

Where the wild things are...

Please don't go...we'll eat you up, we love you so...

(wibble)

Dozer · 27/02/2012 21:37

You lot are too soft!

"I'll love you forever" - puke!

Tabby mctat does not get reunited with the tramp, he (very sensibly) chooses a comfy lifestyle and regular sex over a life on the road, but later makes a final walkabout to hand over his wayward son to the tramp, before returning to be looked after by his soft-pawed wife and well-behaved daughters.

Mog is a badly-drawn weird dog-cat creature.

Elfontheedge · 27/02/2012 21:38

Oliver Jeffers. All of them. Waily waily!

P0rtBlacksand · 27/02/2012 21:50

Edward Tulane ................. Sad

lurkingaround · 27/02/2012 21:52

Yes, Velveteen Rabbit! Sheesh, was a mess reading it.

Also brought 3 nieces to The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde (i think) in the theatre some years ago. Gave me a pain in my heart (metaphorically speaking). Heartbreaking, literally. Thank goodness it was dark in the theatre.

lurkingaround · 27/02/2012 21:55

The nieces, by the by, she'd not a tear. I've read the story (little prince) while alone, so there was no rein on my tears. I was a mess.

lurkingaround · 27/02/2012 21:56

Shed not she'd. Bloody predictive txt.

ledkr · 27/02/2012 21:57

Aw the selfish giant,my dc were too young to get it at first and just stared at my tears in a puzzled way.

I read a book once which was to help children come to terms with granny getting confused. " you are all my memories" she said to her grand daughter at the end in a rare moment of lucidity

lurkingaround · 27/02/2012 22:04

Ah yes, the selfish giant. Absolutely another tear jerker.

stretchmummy · 27/02/2012 22:06

The Big Big Sea is very sad...I always wonder what has happened to the Mother in that one. When she says
"Remember this time. It's the way life should be."

Kennyp · 27/02/2012 22:12

I only read the velveteen rabbit because it was featured in that episode of friends years ago (joey, chandler, cathy love triangle). I had never ever heard of it before.

My daughter cannot ever hear it again as she gets inconsolable. Loved the use of the word "bunchy" in the VR
