Why not just go to state school?

Spero · 26/02/2012 20:38

The vast majority of people have stuck to the legitimate targets, I agree.

But there is still a sizeable minority whom have been sniggering about her squint. I assume they would not be leaping all on over the SN board and giggling about 'mongs' ?

Or maybe they would.

I feel quite violent now. It's possibly the hypocrisy more than the bullying cruelty.

AllPastYears · 26/02/2012 21:11

I didn't realise she had a squint till someone posted a link to the article about it. I just thought that she was particularly unphotogenic like me.

(Not that I commented on it, anyway.)

Spero · 26/02/2012 21:34

Well, the silver lining to this cloud is presumably that I can reclaim my favourite word 'fucktard' as anything now goes.

Brave new world eh.

PeanutButterChocolate · 26/02/2012 22:06

Don't do that Spero Sad.

I think she's quite pretty, actually. She appears to be comfortable in her own skin which is a quality I admire.

Spero · 26/02/2012 22:09

I think you may be confusing 'comfortable in her own skin' with 'emotional vomiting'. I can't believe I have missed her up until now. There is apparently nothing she won't write about in copious, awful detail.

But seriously, what are the ground rules now? Still bad to use words that disparage children with special needs? But absolutely fine to ridicule someone for a physical disability?

I would be grateful if mumsnet royalty could elucidate. I will hold off on 'fucktard' until I have a definitive ruling.

treadwarily · 26/02/2012 23:08

MarthasHarbour - oooo treadwarily spill

Where to start... in a nutshell she is exactly as she comes across, haughty and arrogant, self-absorbed, pushy beyond belief, self-pitying, melodramatic and attention-seeking.

She will stop at nothing to get her way and we were all informed of every detail of her endless soap opera lifestyle (in her own words she tricked Keith into marrying her as he had left her for someone else and she hooked up with him, shagged and she got pregnant).

It's actually quite sad, but terribly tedious to be around. I'm guessing she has zero self esteem and can only measure self worth by how much feedback she receives, even if negative, what postcode she lives in etc.

I do feel bad for her children, she must be the most embarrassing mum on the planet.

Having said all that, I do think comments about her looks are beyond the pale. We can't help the way we look.

Spero · 26/02/2012 23:25

Whilst at school, when I was being phsyically and verbally attacked for my appalling negligence in being born with a visible physcial deformity, I forgave my tormentors becuase they were children and I thought they didn't know any better. I tried to feel sorry for them because their parents were clearly such wankstains they couldn't teach their children how to grow up to be decent human beings.

Seems my pity has to extend a lot further than I thought.

Goodnight all, espcially all of you looking in the mirror and admiring the beautiful laydee who looks back at you.

fedupofnamechanging · 27/02/2012 10:14

I'm struggling with the 'poor Keith' opinions, I must admit.

He is where he is, because of decisions he made. Presumably Shona didn't hold a gun to his head and make him shag her. She didn't get pregnant all by herself. If he didn't want to marry her or have a baby (x4) with her, then he didn't have to.

treadwarily · 27/02/2012 10:27

Agreed. Obviously he's knob.

limitedperiodonly · 27/02/2012 10:41

I was using 'poor Keith' as a relative term to properly apportion blame. Keith and Shona are clearly both appalling specimens of humanity.

fedupofnamechanging · 27/02/2012 10:51

I wasn't thinking of you specifically, limitedperiodonly. There were quite a few up thread and I was just saying that Shona couldn't have done any of this, without the full collusion of Keith. She has written the articles, but he has contributed to them and to the lifestyle she is writing about.

limitedperiodonly · 27/02/2012 10:59

No, I wasn't accusing you karma. I was explaining my thinking Grin

I love to read about Shona and Keith and with four children the chances are high that at least one of them will write a Mommie Dearest-type memoir.

porcamiseria · 27/02/2012 11:08

hear hear spero

I posted on this earlier, but people keep piling in to pile on yet more lovely words

SHE FUCKING CHANGED HER FACEBOOK PRIVACY HALFWAY THROUGH THIS THREAD

thats says it all really

This for me is the modern day equivalant of watching the village scold having her tongue cut out (ish...)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/02/2012 11:14

Spero - I think you make a very valid point. I am quite happy to criticise her lifestyle choices because she puts them in the public domain.

To criticise someone because they have a congenital defect with one of their eyes is nasty.

Cherriesarelovely · 27/02/2012 11:23

Agreed that making unkind remarks about her appearance is uncalled for. However, other than that she is choosing to put herself, her family and her controversial opinions in a national newspaper week on a regular basis. I do not feel particularly sorry that she has attracted some vitriol for those. She hardly comes across as a person that values her privacy in general.

GandTiceandaSprout · 27/02/2012 12:30

Do they not teach basic maths at private school then?

Surely they should have realised they couldn;t afford private schools for some of their children.

And if state education is fine for one child, then why not all of them.

We looked at private when my son was going through some stuff at school. We quickly realised we couldn;t afford it so looked at state schools elsewhere. He goes to a nice school out of catchment.

Spero · 27/02/2012 14:20

porcamiseria and Chaz, thankyou for restoring some of my faith in humanity.

Cherries, I agree with everything you say, but the way you have put it kind of suggests that the insults about her physcial appearance are just collateral damage in view of everything else ridiculous that she has said.

Sorry, I may just be over sensitive.

If I had world enough and time I would trawl thru various threads to see if the posters here poking fun at her eyes are the same ones who previously have been enraged by careless use of word 'retard' or its variants. I would be interested to see if there is any overlap.

I agree it is v relevant that she changed her facebook privacy settings half way through this thread, but I can't think of a clearer example of re arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. I skimmed through about three of her articles last night and already I know much, much, more about her family and her life than I do about even my nearest and dearest... all accompanied by massive colour photos of her children and their names.

I think it is really sad. I won't read any more of her stuff. Its getting too much like a Victorian tour of Bedlam for comfort.

MarthasHarbour · 27/02/2012 14:34

i think i saw only one or two references to her eyes, i certainly did not comment upon it, spero you have a point but you have blown it all out of proportion, there was hardly any mention of this until you waded in. i am not excusing the comments at all, which is why i didnt comment IYSWIM.

we have been taking the piss out of her lifestyle choices which she has laid bare in the DM for all to see! The same (and worse) comments have been placed in the DM comments box anyway.

MrsKittyFane · 27/02/2012 14:38

I love this thread Blush

Spero · 27/02/2012 14:39

Marthas - I saw more. From more than one poster. We'll have to argue the toss because I am not going back to count it all up.

so sorry you feel I waded in and 'blew it out of all proportion'

Sorry again to tell you that I will do exactly the same the next time I come accross this.

Because people who bully other people for their physical or mental defects are disgusting. And if they don't like people like me pointing that out, then the simple remedy is for them to shut the fuck up and get the fuck away and while they are doing that have a long hard think about themselves and what messages they want their children to learn.

MrsKittyFane · 27/02/2012 14:41

Well, I did until I got to this page...

Spero · 27/02/2012 14:49

O and before I have to tear myself away from this feast of loveliness and go to ASDA to let down some tyres on the mobility scoooters, can I just point out that one of the reasons I was so disappointed to read some of these posts was because I had thought I would not find this kind of stuff on this site?

It is not really much comfort or jusification to say that there is 'worse' on the DM comments sections. I bet there is. But that is because the DM attracts bottom feeders of the worst kind.

And yes, yes I read it, I can't help myself. But I do try to find it in a bin or left on the train, I try very hard not to give any money to Paul Dacre.

I've been thinking about this and the poor children. Is what she's doing not some form of child exploitation? Or even, setting them up for ridicule on a public stage, child abuse?
