Is she privately educated? Her FB refers to a school in the US I think - is in private?

MissBetsyTrotwood · 23/02/2012 19:25

Soul-destroying is not being able to feed your children or provide heating. Wankers.

That.

BeehavingBaby · 23/02/2012 20:10

My favourite bit:

"According to research released by the Department of Communities and Local Government, only 66 per cent of English people now own their home....
The survey also revealed that one in three live in rented accommodation"

Er, no shit Sherlock?

Reading the daily mail is my guilty pleasure - I know its horrid but that's why I love it. I like reading the online comments more though!

I read that article. More than anything I just thought how could they not realise that basically taking out loans / remortgages that equated to more than the house was worth in equity was ever a good idea? At that point surely you'd look to downsize and budget accordingly. (As I have done).

MollieO · 23/02/2012 20:30

I think if you are financially dim it is pretty easy to over stretch yourselves. I've just remortgaged and I was offered a huge amount of money. The mortgage co also had some computer valuation for my house which was ludicrously high. Some people really do think that if the bank will lend them the money then the bank must know they can pay it back. Utter madness.

I wouldn't remortgage to pay school fees but I did contemplate renting out my house to pay my mortgage and school fees when I was made redundant last year. I surprised myself at how important maintaining some stability for ds was. I'd always thought that school fees would be the first thing to go. However I very quickly realised that my life would be a lot more complicated if I moved him to state school. Keeping him at his current school meant I could job hunt for normal hours work rather than part time or sorting out alternative childcare.

I do think this journo is the married equivalent of Liz Jones but actually worse as she is exploiting her children to make a living rather than just her own sorry life, like Liz.

KalSkirata · 23/02/2012 20:37

that first pic with the whole family is the rental house. Complete luxury!

callmemrs · 23/02/2012 20:39

They live in Hampshire and need to send their children to Private school? It's hardly the bloody ghetto is it? I can only assume their children must be spectacularly dim!

ifeelloved · 23/02/2012 20:40

Well I feel sorry for her and think you are all meanies

ifeelloved · 23/02/2012 20:41

Nah. Couldn't do it. She is insane. What an absolute loon. Soul destroying? Soul destroying? She would know soul destroying if it jumped up and bit her in the arse. Stupid bloody woman

MarthasHarbour · 23/02/2012 20:46

ifeeloved i saw straight through you - you is a rubbish liar! Wink

just like the lovely Shona!

MarthasHarbour · 23/02/2012 20:47

hmm i think the first pic is the home she sold - as a previous poster said, she nipped in front of the house when the current owners were out!!

ifeelloved · 23/02/2012 20:51

Why did no one warn me Keith is clearly Al Gore?

WatermelonSugar · 23/02/2012 21:21

I think it's unfair to accuse them of lacking financial sense and having a fourth child they can't afford. Clearly, she is going to be apprenticed to the local chimney sweep or cupcake baker and thus restore the family's fortunes. That or they'll harvest her kidneys.

MarthasHarbour · 23/02/2012 21:27

OP Wink

AllPastYears · 23/02/2012 21:40

"Certainly, we overstretched ourselves when we bought our lovely period home .... But ... we slept soundly at night, smug in the knowledge the house was making us money."

Er, no, you were living there and paying the bills, it wasn't making you money. Unless the bank was paying you to live there. Hmm

alemci · 23/02/2012 21:48

it is a shame but i do agree with the school fees bit and it was a bit silly to keep remortgaging.

why not take them out of the PS if things were tight.

StealthPolarBear · 23/02/2012 22:31

The line on the pregnancy test was the same blue as her daughter's eyes. Oh where do I learn to write such prose?

TheBolter · 23/02/2012 22:36

Dimwits.

TheBolter · 23/02/2012 22:38

Amazing state school catchment - wow. Cannot believe the stupid people would rather starve than send their dc to Bohunt. What kind of message does that give their dds about the people they will inevitably have to mix with one day (i.e. the 93% of great unwashed who went through the state system).

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 23/02/2012 23:23

I've just read her "I'd rather starve than take my daughters out of private school" article. Urgh!

anonacfr · 23/02/2012 23:58

How come I can't find her Facebook page?
