To defriend "friend" over Christmas card

So, I have a friend. She's been a friend for years and years and has been there for me through thick and thin. However, today I received a Christmas card from her and it upset me so much that I think I will have to "defriend" her. AIBU?

Here's what she did:

  • Wrote the card in blue ink, she knows I prefer black
  • Addressed the envelope as 12a Our Street, it should be 12A - I cannot believe she does not know where we live after all this time
  • Included mine, DH and DC's names in the card, but wrote DS's name last - why did she put him last? I think she must have issues with him.
  • chose a card with a picture of a robin on when she should realise that robins really upset me after I saw one on the same day my cat died (14 years ago)
  • used a non-standard sized card. I know she must have done this deliberately to mess with my Christmas decoration scheme.
  • I only got the card today and I know she is normally mega organised. Basically she must have sent the card as an afterthought.

I have done absolutely nothing to offend her, I don't know why she would do any of the above ...

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 16/12/2011 18:06

De-friending is not enough.

You need to wait for her down a dark alley with a length of 2 by 4.

Sparklingbaubles · 16/12/2011 18:06

That is shocking. Shock

Kayano · 16/12/2011 18:07

The bitch! How very dare she? Defriending is too good for that cowbag.

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 16/12/2011 18:08

MeltedAdventCalendarChocolates · 16/12/2011 18:08

I suspect so help. One of those attention seeking threads.

mumblechum1 · 16/12/2011 18:08

Toxic narcissistic emotionally abusive arrrrrrse. She's probably also your mother in law and uses prostitutes and parks in mum & toddler spaces Wink

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 16/12/2011 18:08

why the biscuits? Confused

toddlerama · 16/12/2011 18:09

Deffo NPD. She'd feed a baby cake given half the chance.

Sparklingbaubles · 16/12/2011 18:10

I hope this is nothing to do with my thread from a couple of days ago moaning about people sending me cards that don't stand up, in see through envelopes when they are supposed to be friends. When I have bought them a nice hand-chosen card!!

TheProvincialLady · 16/12/2011 18:12

At least it wasn't a recycled card. I got one - recycled (I don't usually keep other people's rubbish in my house, thanks) AND a charity card. Help the Homeless. She knows I hate poor people.

valiumredhead · 16/12/2011 18:12

Nice one OP, that made me chuckle Grin

LoveInAColdClimate · 16/12/2011 18:12

This sounds like EA, to be honest, OP. You need to cut her out of your life Sad.

belledechocchipcookie · 16/12/2011 18:13

I may be able to get the number for 'someone who can sort her out' if you want it? Wink

Kayano · 16/12/2011 18:15

Anyone who gets het up about a Xmas card is only one step away from writing ranty letters to pointless local papers IMO.

I am so shaking with rage at your friend on your behalf, I think her intestines should be ripped out with your fingernails, they should be plaited and she should be hung by them, after that I'd maybe consider torturing her. Sorry I can't type any more my shaking has made my laptop shake, I'm so angry my coffee table is joining in shake rage, oh no, my head has just flipped, and raging blood is spurting from my ears and even that is shaking. I've never been so angry.

I am going for a lie down.
