To be REALLY angry with Dp. (sorry another xmas complain)

Will try to keep it brief.

Every christmas since I got with Dp we go to MIL and FIL for the day. We have a lazy morning of present opening. We stop off at my parents house for an hour and Dc's open presents. Then we spend 1 till 5 at inlaws.

This year MIL retired and has never been abroad so her and FIL are going around Europe for the next 6 months. Dp was upset that they wouldn't be there xmas day , so I said I'd cook and that we can have our xmas day here. Which will be easier all round with Dc's and twins on the way. He said that this would be great , bought loads of tinsel and stuff for the house.

Tonight Dp has sat down with me and said that he has arranged for us to go to my mums house. Even though he knows I hate xmas with my parents I can't stand my mums nit-picking at everything and yelling at the kids for opening gifts to fast + the house is full anyway as my brother and his mates go there every year.
And at this point I would of said fair enough if he wanted Dc's to spend more time with them. But when I asked why he said it was so he doesn't have the whole day with just the family so he can chill out. He THEN added that he may not go with me cause it's not like I would be drinking so I can drive myself there and back.
So AIBU?
(sorry long)

Definitely not! I'm cross for you! Not only about him arranging this, but his motivation. And then for saying you go alone. Sucks.

TadlowDogIncident · 27/11/2011 20:53

YANBU. What planet is he on? Tell him he arranged it, so he can take your DCs there and you'll have a nice day relaxing at home.

RandomMess · 27/11/2011 20:53
Shock
GlitterySkulls · 27/11/2011 20:53

tell him to fuck off- why should he decide what you do on xmas day?

AntiqueAnteater · 27/11/2011 20:53

nice

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 27/11/2011 20:54

So basically you've just been told "I don't want to spend christmas with you because it's a chore and I just want to chill out, so I want you to fuck off to your parents for the day and take the kids. I'm not interested in spending christmas with my family"

Yeah.

If you've got any sense, there won't be a star rammed on top of the christmas tree this year...

NinkyNonker · 27/11/2011 20:54

I'm with Tadlow. Either that or cancel your parents and go with your suggestion, but that mess spending the day with an arse.

Tell him to fuck himself.

RoughShooting · 27/11/2011 20:55

HE has arranged for YOU to go somewhere else for Christmas whilst HE stays at home? Tell him where he can fuck off to on Christmas day, who does he think he is?

Blu · 27/11/2011 20:55

What?

He has arranged for you and the DCs to go to your parents, and he will stay at home without you?

Tell him that since you wanted to stay at home, and he doesn't you have actually arranged for him to go to your parents.

Tbh if you serve his bollocks up minced onto the stuffing, you would NBU.

DoingMyVeryBest · 27/11/2011 20:55

Perhaps there is a deeper problem or worry he's not telling you...

If not, then it is wierd and I'd ask him why he wants to spend Christmas that way.

Lulumama · 27/11/2011 20:55

YANBU

and to reiterate...what the actual fuck?you are pregnant with twins and have children... and he is wanting to have xmas day just chilling out. he wouldn't be my DP much longer if he did not backtrack pretty damn quick

he doesn't want to spend the time with his folks, he wants to relax.

when does he think you get chill out and relaxing time?

SageMist · 27/11/2011 20:55

Do you know what, if my husband did that to I would seriously think about kicking him Angry. Who the hell does he think he is?

lellibobs · 27/11/2011 20:56

UANBU no way. What sort ofmiserable sod is he that he doesn't want to spend Christmas with you and your children. Does he not get on with your family?

Dee03 · 27/11/2011 20:56

He is an arse Sad

maybenow · 27/11/2011 20:56

seriously????

I have almost never shouted at my DH and i thought it was because i'm a calm laid back person [smug] but now i realise it's because he would NEVER EVER EVER suggest such a thing! If he did i would be uncontrollable with rage Angry

purplepidjin · 27/11/2011 20:57

He made the arrangements. He can fulfil them. Every single year, you do what he wants to do. It's your turn to have a say!

Backtobedlam · 27/11/2011 20:58

YANBU-I'd be mad to, and pretty hurt. Why don't you suggest your parents come round to yours for a bit instead? Then you'll be with your family and dp will be there to

pranma · 27/11/2011 20:59

I cannot imagine any loving husband and father suggesting such a thing.Tell him to go and spend Christmas alone somewhere else[his parents' empty house maybe] while you and the dc have fun at home after a short visit to your family if practical.

lisad123 · 27/11/2011 21:00

Tell him to cancel it and go to the pub for Xmas dinner

OhCobblers · 27/11/2011 21:01

i am SO angry on your behalf.
He is a selfish b**d and in my mind is right up there with the t*t on another thread who wanted to go on a 2 week stag do when his DP had only given birth 4 weeks prior (if baby arrived on time).

honestly - i would throwna very, large implement at my DH for having even a small amount of nerve for suggesting it (the large Le Creuseut should do it).

tell him to go screw himself - poor you and make sure you bloody stay put on Xmas day in your home. He made the arrangements with your Mum so he can undo them.

Kitchentiles · 27/11/2011 21:04

That is hilarious! It's so completely ludicrous that it's actually funny! What a knobber.
