I have posted about this before, however i seem to be getting more and more intollerent of other peoples children.
In social situations,my own dd's play dates and basically everywhere else,i just find them intensely annoying, the noise, the craziness etc.
Am i on my own in this? i feel mean saying it but its true,i dread situations that involve other peoples children,AIBU?

A bit yeah.
OPC are annoying as fuck....but most of us learn to cope.

GobblersKnob · 22/11/2011 16:28

YANBU, most other children get hugely on my tits.

Sadly you do have to suck it up most of the time.

alarkaspree · 22/11/2011 16:31

How old are your kids? I find my 7yo dd's friends mosly delightful, and my 5yo ds's mostly much harder work (boys and girls). I think as they get older they tend to be much more independent, and also quieter.

HairyGrotter · 22/11/2011 16:33

I can't stand OPC. Most of my friends are aware of this fact, I just grimace, avoid interacting with them and just try and tolerate them in very small doses.

Horrible things

mrsshears · 22/11/2011 17:04

My eldest is in her teens but its my youngest dd,who is 5, friends who i mean.
My own dd2 is very introvert and quiet which i think makes me more intollerent of her friends behaviour.

Not for me. My DS is wild and I usually find other children quite manageable in comparison!

PattySimcox · 22/11/2011 17:07

What pictish said

Ragwort · 22/11/2011 17:10

Agree with mumbrane - I quite like having other people's children round, helps to quieten my DS down Grin.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 22/11/2011 17:11

Yeah, I also hate pensioners and everyone between the age of 18 and 25. They all get on my tits.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 22/11/2011 17:15

Well dont they say that kids are like farts...you can tolerate your own Grin

YANBU. Went to a babies and toddlers thing today for the first time. DS only 8 months. I won't be going back till DS will get more out of it.

So much snot.

HalfTermHero · 22/11/2011 17:22

It is true. For the most part OPC do my head in. Especially the ones who run around play centres with no supervision screaming and going the wrong way up the slide.

mrsshears · 22/11/2011 17:24

They just all seem so wild to me! and everything is about saying poo or wee as much as possible accompanied by as much pointless screaming as possible!

YANBU.

Children are just small people. Some of them are lovely, some are horrible. And like adults, I don't like spending time with horrible ones.

And all those weirdy Princess -Diana -beauty -contestant- stylee people who gush about children all being wonderful "I lurrrrrve children" are stark raving madsters. (or have never spent any time with any)

mrsshears · 22/11/2011 17:26

know your not on your own im the same i can only tolerarte my own.

DeliaSucks · 22/11/2011 17:31

Some other people's children are a bit horrid: talk in whingey voices, lack manners, generally really annoying, can't wait to get rid of them after playdate
BUT
Some other people's children are quite cute really: Polite, charming, smiley, funny, I'd happily keep them
It's a bit like old people and ILs: Some are smelly, rude, lazy and tedious, whilst others are interesting, fun, open minded.
Yab a bit U, because that's life, really.

knockkneedandknackered · 22/11/2011 17:33

i cant stand children who run around screaming and want to sit on my lap with a runny snotty nose and dirty sticky hands.

mrsshears · 22/11/2011 17:34

I can honestly say, awful as it makes me sound,i have'nt met any opc i would describe in that way delia

DeliaSucks · 22/11/2011 17:36

Ok, I admit they are few and far between...

ViviPru · 22/11/2011 18:08

LeQueen, when (if) the Prulets come along, I wonder if I might pick your brains to within an inch of your life for your trade secrets trouble you for a few hints and tips?

OPC are partially accountable for the lack of Prulets thus far.

northernwreck · 22/11/2011 18:18

I generally like children and dont meet all that many vile ones. I don't mind noise and crazyness too much, not because I am full of luuurv
e for the world (I have a looong list of hates) but because I am quite immature Grin
Also , grew up in a big family, so having a cacophony of voices and games going on seems normal and comforting to me.
I wouldn't have had ds if I didn't like kids in general.
