or they're having the Christmas 'do' on the 29th and can't get a holiday to get over the night before?

Well, our school have 1/12 and 2/12 as TED days so it may end up being a short week and the teachers can have 3 days to do Christmas shopping.

They must think we're daft and haven't noticed

Couldn't they just order stuff from Amazon whilst on their lunch breaks?

Not a teacher,but I am striking on 30th. I would like to have gone Xmas shopping, unfortunately the RCN are looking for their members who are off to go and support the strike.So I have been dragged to a rally :(

I really COULD have shown my support from my bed/shops.

They will be down a days pay so might not be able to afford Christmas this year

Eee, CalmaLlamaDown now we all know that teachers earn squillions, so losing a days pay won't difficult to bear

If all the striking teachers go Xmas shopping it'll boost the economy and help pay for our huge pay rises and gold plated pensions. Win win surely?

The government should encourage strikes, look at all the money they will save having to pay the publication sector that day

One of my best friends is a teacher.

She is all for the strike because she feels if they roll over now and say 'Oh ok, times are hard for all, we'll back down' all the bastard bankers and business people will be creaming off their huge salaries and bonuses again in a year or two and the teachers will have been mugged off and left out of pocket.

They will all be busy compiling their amazon 'black friday' lists so no other fucker can get the bargains!

As supply and not in a union I amn't allowed to work :-( Plus it's St Andrew's day and I love Scottish day in the nursery with dancing, and singing and the haggis and shortbreads snacks.

When I was a teacher there were no children in the family so Christmas was a heartless exchange of pointless presents. And interest rates had shot up to 15% on my starter singleton mortgage so I could barely afford to eat.

I kept the best of the loot from the pupils for myself and palmed the rest off on relatives. No need for Christmas shopping

Actually I don't think he's on strike.

Dh reckons it's Unison on strike that day so not teachers just TAs. Is that not the case everywhere?
