...the (most fecking boring) tank engine (in the world)?

I know he's a good example for kids, and little boys LOVE him and have done for years, but he does my tits in. Goody friggin twoshoes.

I quite like Chuggington, Timmy Time, Peppa. Also hate Balamory and that new shite the same company have put out, can't remember what you call it.

Toby is just a shed, end of. I have never seen a tram that looks like that.

SolidGoldVampireBat · 10/11/2011 23:06

My DS is 7 and still likes Thomas and Chuggington. It's a good job I like trains too.

KristinaM · 10/11/2011 23:07

You are all so mean
I heart Thomas
I am not going to play with you any more

MadameBoo · 10/11/2011 23:13

Aha! I did this one a while ago. I so know where you're coming from - Look :o

LetUsPrey · 10/11/2011 23:16

The very brief glimpses I've had of Barney make me want to drop kick him into oblivion.

Fireman Sam - smug, annoying, know-it-all pillock.

"I'm going to buy a lemon. Aarrggghhh it's all green. What's wrong? What's that Dilys? It must be radioactive? Call Fireman Sam".

"What's the problem? A radioactive lemon? No, hahahaha it's a lime!"

"Oh Fireman Sam you're so clever and wonderful." Blah blah blah.

Fuck the fuck off.

Don't mind Thomas the Tank Engine though.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 10/11/2011 23:17

I don't mind Toby though, because if he were a person he would be this one

Separated at birth they were.

Or at least they would have been if one of them wasn't a fictional train.

LetUsPrey · 10/11/2011 23:17

Don't start picking on Toby! He's my favourite.

RunWorkCook · 10/11/2011 23:34

But an oblong is a rectangle...

[can't believe I'm discussing this!]

I quite like Toby too, but he isn't square!

peppa pig is massively bossy & So very irritating I'd deck 'er

BertieBotts · 11/11/2011 00:45

He's neither, you fools, if anything he's a cuboid.

What I do find amusing about Thomas is its many hidden agendas. In a few of the classic episodes you get some random public service or railway (which was a public service then I think?) worker being sacked/hassled because their workload has increased because of cost cutting. Everything invariably goes wrong, somehow vaguely involving the railways, and instead of the managers just persevering with their new scheme they have a sudden realisation that all the problems have been caused by the recent changes and immediately reinstate the worker or their privileges or whatever.

The diesels/steamies thing is dodgy though. Sometimes it's portrayed as a bad/stupid thing to discount a whole category (race??) of trains just because one of them accidentally shunted your friend once (I kid you not. This is how it all started off. Search youtube for "Thomas goes postal") but the majority of the time this prejudice rivalry is encouraged as some kind of healthy, fun thing and the diesels are often referred to as "smelly" "annoying" or "stupid" when actually they behave no different from the steam trains. Hmm It makes me feel quite uncomfortable actually.

DS has taken to replying "It is a bit funny" if I tell him something isn't funny. He got this from Peppa Pig. Unfortunately it makes me laugh Blush

Grainger · 11/11/2011 00:48

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability You are SO right. Toby is a shed. LMAO.
Can't see Russell Tovey so much, but Toby does look like a girl I used to work. Miserable cow too. Shed face.

Madame Boo great driven fecking demented minds think alike.

There is no point whatsoever to Big Cook Little Cook. They never make anything that anyone would ever eat, and they only have one customer a day who doesn't get a chance to order their own food.

I prefer I Can Cok to BCLC. Massively. I actually quite like Katie although agree her singing is a bit dire.

The "quiz" about guessing the mystery ingredient needs to go, though. Or at least have three actual food items. No child of the age group the programme is aimed at still finds it funny to say "Oh NO! We can't eat a BOAT!" Come on. They grow out of that before they are two.

Grainger · 11/11/2011 00:58

Bertie, my name is HP related too, albeit spelled wrong to make it less obvious that I LOVE him....

Agree about the hard time the diesels get. "Diesels can be devious", except Mavis, cause she's a girl engine... In the Day of the Diesels, why the fuck is Thomas the only train that the FC listens to? That's a nice message to send kids.
Just watched the thomas goes postal thing.... bit OTT for kids prog, surely?

OP posts:
Grainger · 11/11/2011 01:00

Katie is lovely. I'm not surprised she has been 'promoted'(?) to presenter too.

Agree, the quiz is stoopid.

But bricking them up to die isn't? Grin Actually one of my schoolfriends was so terrified by that episode as a small child that it gave her a lifelong fear of ever going into small spaces in case she got trapped in.

DS is terrified of the thing in Misty Island Rescue with the kind of jaws on a crane. Like a train version of a digger.

Grainger · 11/11/2011 01:15

Diesel 10?

My son loves him.

I quite like him too as he hates Thomas. Grin

perfumedlife · 11/11/2011 01:16

Oh my ds loved Thomas and his friends, I knew them well Sad Tedious.

Anyone else love Titch? What a sweet little prog that was.

PoppaRob · 11/11/2011 01:47

Chuggington rules! Thomas sucks.
Rastamouse is great... my nick on another forum is President Wensley Dale! :)
Bob the Builder is a definite favourite - except I really want to cut that wimpy crane up for scrap metal.

My vote for most annoying presenter is the over the top wanker Mr Maker.
We just started getting the Iconicles here. Computer graphics for their own sake? The stories are crap.

SenseofEntitlement · 11/11/2011 02:01

I once had breakfast with Justin!

(Well, we were staying in the hotel next to the BBC studio, and as we went in to the breakfast room, he was coming out. I did that smile that you do when you recognize someone but can't remember who, he smiled back, then hungover/still drunk DH started saying loudly "Mr Tumble! That's Mr Tumble!" and I died of shame. Then remembered I had a full breakfast paid for by the license payer and cheered up.)

FreudianSlipper · 11/11/2011 03:02

can't stand thomas ds seems to prefer chuggington now

hate little princess horrible little brat

pictish · 11/11/2011 08:35

I love Rastamouse too! It's just so....different!

Give it up, give it up
Give it up for da Easy Crew
Solving mysteries in da neighbouthood
Always there to make a bad ting good
Yaddda yadda yadda yadda boom boom boom

Brilliant! Grin

HeidiKat · 11/11/2011 09:13

Oh god yes Little Princess is a little shit and all the adults in that show are bloody useless and give in to her demands every time.

Whatmeworry · 11/11/2011 09:15

Thomas was my surrogate child minder - between the videos and the wooden model trains he gave me hours of relief from the rugrats PDCs
