Noddy Holder had a terrific voice. I loved 'em. Some of their songs are still great. Far Far Away for example.

Squeaky, slade are most certainly not heavy rock. They are glam rock, bordering on pop music.

AC/DC are so not heavy metal.

They were classed as heavy/glam rock. I have most of their CD's and have always classed them as that too.

Wiki describes them as "hard rock / glam rock" They say

"The band moved to the States in the mid-1970s, in an attempt to break into the American market and although this was largely unsuccessful, they left their mark on a number of US bands who have since cited Slade as an influence. During the late 1970s, the band returned to the UK following years of commercial failure both at home and abroad. Slade's career was unexpectedly revived when the band were asked to perform at the 1980 Reading Festival when Ozzy Osbourne pulled out at the last minute. For the next two years, the band produced material tailored towards the heavy metal scene and by 1984, they finally cracked the American market with the hits "Run Runaway" and "My Oh My." This newfound success did not last long, however, and despite a top 25 UK hit in the early '90s the band split shortly after in 1992."

I stand corrected on the foos being grunge, I'm ashamed because I've just seen nirvana on beeb 4 (with a lovely dave, fresh faced and very young ) and used to be a big fan of Pearl Jam, so I should know better.

They did change their style a fair bit from the glam style of the 70's and moved towards heavier stuff in the 80's. I saw them at Donnington in 81.

megadeth are definately thrash... which is one genre of rock that I have never been able to really appreciate..
