Had mil around for lunch today and at the same time I was preparing tonight's dinner. She kept looking at the turkey and said she wouldn't mind taking some home for her tea. No problem, I went to prepare some for her. She then said "actually..." and then stood there staring at it for a few minutes. At the same time I'm trying to cook dinner, prepare lunch and watch my 2 year old ds. She follows with "I do have some sausages in so maybe I won't bother." I said ok and went to put the turkey down, she then said "oh actually, it does look nice - hmm I can't decide!" so I said "well do you want some or not?" she said "yeah go on then!" so I go to prepare it again only for her to say "oh you know what, don't bother, I'll have the sausages". At this point there is a big crash i the living room, DS starts crying and mil said "no I WILL have some, do you want me to do it whilst you see to DS?" so I said "yes" and tossed the turkey to her and ran after DS. Moments later the back door opened and closed and MIL had left!! DH called her later to find out why she just walked out and she said it was because I'd thrown the turkey at her and it upset her. I told DH that she was faffing around, being awkward and deserved to be turkeyed. However I've since apologised for saying that (although secretely did mean it). So AIBU for losing patience?? this came 15 minutes after the "shall I or shant I have egg with my salad?" conversation so she was already on thin ice.
