To have thrown the turkey at MIL?

Had mil around for lunch today and at the same time I was preparing tonight's dinner. She kept looking at the turkey and said she wouldn't mind taking some home for her tea. No problem, I went to prepare some for her. She then said "actually..." and then stood there staring at it for a few minutes. At the same time I'm trying to cook dinner, prepare lunch and watch my 2 year old ds. She follows with "I do have some sausages in so maybe I won't bother." I said ok and went to put the turkey down, she then said "oh actually, it does look nice - hmm I can't decide!" so I said "well do you want some or not?" she said "yeah go on then!" so I go to prepare it again only for her to say "oh you know what, don't bother, I'll have the sausages". At this point there is a big crash i the living room, DS starts crying and mil said "no I WILL have some, do you want me to do it whilst you see to DS?" so I said "yes" and tossed the turkey to her and ran after DS. Moments later the back door opened and closed and MIL had left!! DH called her later to find out why she just walked out and she said it was because I'd thrown the turkey at her and it upset her. I told DH that she was faffing around, being awkward and deserved to be turkeyed. However I've since apologised for saying that (although secretely did mean it). So AIBU for losing patience?? this came 15 minutes after the "shall I or shant I have egg with my salad?" conversation so she was already on thin ice.

ledkr · 30/10/2011 21:30

Hey,if she'd have done the same with the sausages you could have ended up "sausageing"her

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 30/10/2011 21:30

Lucky household to have the lovely smell of roasting turkey - MIL included!

Serenitysutton · 30/10/2011 21:33

What I'd like to do to my mil is, you know that scene in friends where monica dances around with her head in the turkey, well I'd like to shove a mahhosive turkey on mils head to shut. Her. The. Fuck. Up. For 5 minutes. Or forever really. Sleeping with the turkeys. Hmmmm

stepawayfromtheecclescakes · 31/10/2011 14:40

PMSL especially @ The lamb chop won, but there was still a phone call regretting the decision afterwards...

twolittlemonkeys · 31/10/2011 14:43

Ahahahhahahaa, YWNBU. This thread has really made me laugh! Thanks [hgrin]

lostinwales · 31/10/2011 15:37

You can't say anything now BunWrapper it's too late, all of MN is in love with the image of you offloading the turkey like a rugby ball at your dithering MiL, priceless Grin

starfishmummy · 31/10/2011 15:50

Brilliant. Did you aim for her head??!!!

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 31/10/2011 15:56

YADNBU, shame it wasn't a whole frozen one really Grin

diddl · 31/10/2011 15:57

OMG that sounds annoying.

I´m assuming that she wasn´t upset/offended enough to not take the turkey?

I went shopping with my MIL once-never again.

She couldn´t decide on shampoo FFS.

dinkystinky · 31/10/2011 16:06

She should count herself lucky - if she'd been round the dinky household last night she'd have been slapped round the face with a fish !

I would love to throw a turkey at my MIL and my sisters Envy

fluffythevampirestabber · 31/10/2011 16:25

Classic Grin

soandsosmummy · 31/10/2011 19:13

May I suggest the perfect Christmas present for her?

Little Miss Fickle can never decide on anything. Or, rather, she can decide - but then she changes her mind again, and again, and again! When she visits the library one day, Little Miss Fickle finds 9,999 books to choose from. Will she ever be able to pick one out?

YANBU I would find that behaviour maddening.

warthog · 31/10/2011 19:15

DID SHE TAKE THE TURKEY WITH HER WHEN SHE FLOUNCED?

helenthemadex · 31/10/2011 19:22

bunwrapper you have lived my dream, throwing a turkey at another turkey mil

the bonus being that now when you want to get rid of her you know to just throw food at her [hgrin]

ouryve · 31/10/2011 19:22

You're more patient than I am. I'd have thrown it overarm by this point. There would be no doubt about it being AT rather than TO.

Fecklessdizzy · 31/10/2011 19:27

Oh joy ... I think I love you too, OP [hgrin]
