Or at least losing the will to MN for a few minutes, almost the same thing. Can you guess which ones? Titles were almost enough but the content made me a bit Sad and Shock and Hmm

I think I'm going to lose the will to live around about Christmas time on here.

I joined just after Christmas so don't know what AIBU is like at that time of year but I suspect it'll be full of threads about....

MIL's dried up turkey
Ex wanting to see kids on Xmas day
Have I bought my child enough presents? (cue long thread itemising every single gift)
Whose house to eat at
SIL on a diet/vegetarian

And from Boxing day onwards....

DH didn't buy my a present
DH bought me a present but it's a pile of shit
MIL re-gifted her present
No-one bought me a present from my baby and she's nearly 2hrs old.

OracleInaCoracle · 03/09/2011 15:00

Worra, have you been here less than a year? I thought you'd been here longer.

Christmas I shall be hiding aibu. Too grinchy!

Worra - you are spot on, it's a delight I tell ya, a delight.

SuePurblybilt · 03/09/2011 15:07

Worra - you have the joys of MN Underspending Boasts to come then. It starts with an 'AIBU to spend £100 on my DC this year?', cue 1500 reponses from parents who say they're only spending £3.50 and giving their children a satsuma and a sticker. Anything else would spoil them.
Then a further ten pages of Top Trumping, ending with some poster swearing blind that they only give their children a clip round the ear and they're grateful. All v. Monty Python and only funny for the first thread. After that, the Hide button is your friend.

lissielou I've been here 8 months but no doubt it seems longer! Grin

Oh I forgot about the under spending threads sue...no doubt we'll have "I cut a hole in my DS's underpants so he'd have something to play with on Christmas morning" Grin

Skippyboo · 03/09/2011 15:17

You lot are giving me a whole bunch of stuff to look forward to Grin.

OP, I'm new and I hear what you're saying...

Hassled · 03/09/2011 15:19

:o at all this.

Yes, Halloween will start of nicely with an "AIBU to demand pumkin emoticons?" thread towards the end of September, I guarantee it.

Hassled · 03/09/2011 15:20

Pumpkin, although actually they're usually witches or something, aren't they?

SuePurblybilt · 03/09/2011 15:21

ROAR at the underpants. I am going to steal that for my very own worra. Bloody brilliant Grin

worraliberty · 03/09/2011 15:21

Will there be anti fireworks threads to look forward to as well? Grin

ScarletLady01 · 03/09/2011 15:25

I'm very new, this is rather enlightening. I didn't realise Halloween and Christmas etc bought out the worst in people.

worraliberty · 03/09/2011 15:32

Oh it does Scarlet I think it's the same right across the internet Grin

On a forum I used to post on year ago, there was a poster who called herself a Pagan Witch.

She put a very old glass bowl of sweets out for the kids to help themselves. Apparently the bowl was of extreme sentimental value to her (I know, why not use a plastic tub?)

Anyway, a teenager from down the road stole the bowl so according to her she put a Hex on him...a 'spell' that wished him ill health and warts or something.

She was deadly serious and just couldn't work out why so many were taking the piss Grin
