Or at least losing the will to MN for a few minutes, almost the same thing. Can you guess which ones? Titles were almost enough but the content made me a bit Sad and Shock and Hmm

OP posts:
bibbitybobbityhat · 03/09/2011 17:45

"Aibu to think my mil is a blah blah blah and then he turned around and said blah blah and then she turned around and said blah blah

Yes, she deserves a slap for that comment and another thing, with my mil, blah blah blah"

So classy and intelligent Mumsnet atm, isn't it? Full of the minutiae of people's tiffs with their relatives. Yuck.

usualsuspect · 03/09/2011 17:47

The MIL threads drive me insane

Funtimewincies · 03/09/2011 17:51

And of course we need to thrash out this year, once and for all, what age is it acceptable to give a child (gloved hands of course) a sparkler Grin.

Hassled · 03/09/2011 17:53

They drive me insane too.

I am one (a MIL) and they just fill me with paranoia. Then lovely DIL texts me with a book recommendation and I relax. Until the next thread comes along.

I've studiously ignored hairy legs thread and I think I'll keep on not clicking. There's no way it can be good.

OracleInaCoracle · 03/09/2011 17:58

I reported the leg shaving one in the hope that mnhq will move it into s&b. Couldn't even bring myself to post a bollocking on it.

I love my mil, she's ace.

jazzchickens · 03/09/2011 18:01

I remember the Aunt Bessie's thread last Xmas!

I'm all for using convenience food if it makes life a little easier.

A colleague at work was berating me for not making everything from scratch.
I asked her whether she bought clothes off the rail of made them herself.

That shut her up.

EnglishMumInSouthOfFrance · 03/09/2011 18:05

AIBU in remembering it's about time I started making my Xmas pudding upon reading this thread? hangs head in shame

SarahStratton · 03/09/2011 18:19

I want to know what forum that was worra unless it was Netmums . Is it worth a lurk?

PamBeesly · 03/09/2011 18:32

The best quote I've ever seen on MN "I cut a hole in my DS's underpants so he'd have something to play with on Christmas morning" Grin its just brilliant!

chocolateyclur · 03/09/2011 19:13

Aunt bessie's yorkshires ming.

And I can't cook, so the husband does it. I'm such a failure.

SarahStratton · 03/09/2011 19:16

DD1 makes yorkshires here. I am useless at them.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/09/2011 19:17

If you're a feminist, OP, why would you read the leg-shaving thread on AIBU? I'm only asking because that thread is on the feminist board where the replies will undoubtedly be more to your liking. Why does it bother you what other women do or don't do?

Do you just like having a moan about AIBU? Do you feel better now? Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/09/2011 19:19

Oh yes to Aunt Bessie's yorkshire's... I recall that potato thread, brutal. The perpetrators of the frozen spuds were accused of neglect tantamount to child abuse, I think... Shock Oh how we laughed at them as they worked themselves up to an apopleptic rage... too funny.. Grin

worraliberty · 03/09/2011 19:20

Sarah the forum was an ebay one but I don't think it exists any more. It got over moderated and everyone whose posts were worth reading, got banned!

SarahStratton · 03/09/2011 19:25

What a shame, it sounded interesting :(

SDTGisAnEvilGenius · 03/09/2011 22:20

LyingWitch - am I guilty of child abuse again? Damn those convenient potato products! Grin

BelleDameSansMerci · 03/09/2011 22:30

Haven't you seen the one blaming Feminism for the fact that the OP has to work and can't have the SAHM lifestyle she covets? I had to hide it before I posted what I really thought Grin

Belle I had a sneaky look at that one

ViviPru · 03/09/2011 22:49

as an eager to please relative newcomer, indulge me - and there's no hidden subtext to this - what would constitute an AIBU thread that wouldn't make you want to gouge your brain out with the corner of your laptop?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/09/2011 23:02

Me too, SDTG. I don't really understand the need to try to produce something homemade that tastes horrid when Aunt Bessie makes a consistently far superior product that we'll eat and enjoy.

I spent TWO days (with marinade time), putting together the most complicated Lamp Biriyani. I really took time and trouble over it, dozens of ingredients.... it was so vile I can't tell you. Even the dogs wouldn't eat it, well until I picked out the lamb and washed it... so soul-destroying. I will never again try to take the place of our local Indian takeaway, they have nothing to fear from me. Blush

worraliberty · 03/09/2011 23:06

I don't like frozen roasties cos I have to say I do make a shit hot roast dinner Grin

Having said that, last Xmas I made my own sausage rolls for the first time in my life.

I was gutted because after all the effort I went to, they tasted exactly like...well sausage rolls really?!?

I don't know what I expected from them...but I wanted them to at least taste home made and they didn't.

So fuck it, I'll buy frozen again this year.

heleninahandcart · 04/09/2011 00:15

OP and anyone else who gets it

YANBU

Feminism made house prices go up Hmm

My head is about to explode

DontShootTheDog · 04/09/2011 09:47

My head has exploded. Good grief.

Vivipru AIBU should be genuine AIBU questions. So generally about how one is acting/planning to behave or feeling. Should be juicy, like being drip fed hot gossip abou tother people's lives and their own or family/friend's outrageousness. Anything starting with "...to ask you all..." is probably a waste of eye-useage. It generaly goes on to say "..what your mobile phone contract is like?" or "...what your favourite boys name is?" or something equally banal, soul destroying and weak. AIBU used to be the love of my life, now it is but a husk of its former self. A hollow shell.

How about we police it and send wrong'uns off with a flea in their ear (whatever than exactly means)?

I think this thread is not helpng the cause though. I'd be sad to read this if I hadn't started it.

OP posts:
HopeEternal · 04/09/2011 10:14

In light of the Christmas talk on this thread AIBU to tell you that at ChezEternal the cake and the pudding have been quietly soaking up the brandy for several months now?

If it helps, it was DH who made them.
