Having a dinner party, everyone contributing some food. One friend agrees to make a cake for pudding but turns up with a shop bought one from M & S and apologised saying she hadn't had time as she started a new job. AIBU to think she shouldn't have misled us about making the cake?

I'd expect my friends to be more understanding.

wishiwasholdingaachinegun · 02/09/2011 20:40

Nah, if you're busy, you're busy.

We've all had time slip away from us.

You had a cake and her company.

:)

She brought a cake which she said she would bring. So what if she bought it?

She didn't mislead you. She ran out of time. Be grateful she at least stopped to buy one!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/09/2011 20:40

Erm - she just started a new job. Cut her some slack

AlpinePony · 02/09/2011 20:41

Hahahaha get a grip.

freybean · 02/09/2011 20:41

YABU

pjmama · 02/09/2011 20:41

Cake is cake, don't be so precious.

travellingwilbury · 02/09/2011 20:41

Are you serious ?

edwinbear · 02/09/2011 20:41

Given a choice between my baking and M&S's, my mates would be very pleased to see an M&S one.

2BoysTooLoud · 02/09/2011 20:41

My friends would be relieved if I took round a nice M&S cake rather than make one!

scurryfunge · 02/09/2011 20:42

Are you Mumsnetting during a dinner party? Shock

DoMeDon · 02/09/2011 20:42

Misled you about the cake!?! Confused Are you serious - have a Biscuit in case you're still hungry!

PamBeesly · 02/09/2011 20:42

YABU OP cake is cake

TheOriginalFAB · 02/09/2011 20:42

She didn't mislead you. She offered to make it, discovered she couldn't and bought a nice one. She didn't bring a quid sponge from Asda ffs.

YABU and daft.

OhCobblers · 02/09/2011 20:42

I'd possibly be a bit narked if it was from Asda (grin) and i DO shop there!!

To be serious though is it really such big deal that it wasn't home made?

Sounds like the kind of thing i would do!

MumblingRagDoll · 02/09/2011 20:42

YABU at least it was M&S! Get over it!

Misled about a cake indeed!

Sn0wflake · 02/09/2011 20:42

Yeah I think you are being precious about this. Who the hell cares?

Hullygully · 02/09/2011 20:42

what a fucking lazy rude bitch. I have never ever ever heard anything like it. I'm surprised you didn't ramn it straight down her lazy gob.

winnybella · 02/09/2011 20:42

Oh come on everybody-it's a wind up. Surely no one is so ridiculous as to care where the bloody cake came from Hmm

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 02/09/2011 20:42

Get the picture, OP? Cake is cake. You're being unreasonable. Grin

tiggyhop · 02/09/2011 20:42

YABVU

SuePurblybilt · 02/09/2011 20:42

You're so worried by this problem, you've named yourself after it? Grin

I like M&S cake, it's not like she brought an Iceland Arctic Roll

OhCobblers · 02/09/2011 20:43

X post with FAB Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 02/09/2011 20:44

Think yourself lucky, some of us haven't got any cake, Asda, Markies or home made.
