Having a dinner party, everyone contributing some food. One friend agrees to make a cake for pudding but turns up with a shop bought one from M & S and apologised saying she hadn't had time as she started a new job. AIBU to think she shouldn't have misled us about making the cake?

Haha sorry everyone. I said a while ago I'd make the cake, forgot about it and thought I'd buy one from M & S but then imagined frosty smiles and posts bitching about me on internet forums so thought I'd better check! Sorry!

"..but then imagined frosty smiles and posts bitching about me on internet forums so thought I'd better check! "

When searching through internet forums, I suggest you also search an online dictionary for the definition of the word "friend". Seems you are a little deluded and personally, I would rather eat the shit off my shoes than partake in cake with your social circle [can't find appropriate smiley I'm afraid]

I did this a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully, my friends are nice.

you're kidding right? Whats it matter as long as a cake is supplied?

A cake for pudding??!! Shock What has the world come to?

On a point of order, has it escaped your attention that it's Friday carp? The iced inscription should more properly read 'Fuck Me Sideways Up The Bum'.

If you have any complaints from other dinner party attendees, I suggest you take your cake and come round to mine. I would be willing to sample said cake (including asda varieties) and confirm to the forum that the cake is indeed an acceptable dessert for a dinner party.

YABU how petty. She promised a cake so she brought a cake, does not matter whether it was made or shop bought, as long as it was yummy, who cares

I don't think the lady hosting the party would mind in the slightest but I'm not sure about some of the other attenders - everyone else is cooking apart from me! :-O

Apologies m'lud, I was merely quoting the learned curry on the Lesley Judd - is it time to move on to the Peter Purves then?

Agreed, it is very amusing when posters don't read the thread correctly so yes, salt is a very cruel way of ridding ones containers of slugs.
