IN THINKING THAT THIS WOMAN IS NUTS?

At a gathering this afternoon and got chatting to a woman that i vaguely know.. Conversation turned to fabric conditioner of all things (don't ask) and this woman announces that she washes all her husband and sons clothes in a 'more manly' smelling fabric conditioner than she uses for her own and her daughters clothes. Because she doesn't want them smelling 'like girls'. I laughed heartily til i realised that she was serious then stepped swiftly away as I believed her to be a loon. AIBU?

YANBU. Tis bonkers behaviour.

FreudianSlipper · 28/07/2011 20:44

if ever fabric conditioner comes up in the conversation and i stuck around and contributed to the conversation i would worry about my sanity

so you both are :o but she is being an idiot too

Eglu · 28/07/2011 20:45

YANBU! She clearly has too much time on her hands if she washes male and female clothes seperately. Grin

If you were bothered about that would you not just use something like comfort pure that doesn't really have a smell.

Psychovillemum · 28/07/2011 20:45

You mean to say you don't do the same! Shocking ;)

baguettecut · 28/07/2011 20:45

She clearly has far too much time on her hands. She must be washing clothes all bloody day.

scurryfunge · 28/07/2011 20:45

There is a farty smelling fabric conditioner? Shock

HowlingBitch · 28/07/2011 20:46

I praise anyone who has managed to get a hold of their washing, Whatever the smell.

It's gonna start glaring back soon!

TheProvincialLady · 28/07/2011 20:46

Just imagine what Linx fabric conditioner would smell like....ugh. The woman is obviously a loon and what does she even use, anyway? They all smell of pretend flowers don't they.

SherbetDibDab · 28/07/2011 20:46

She's a loon with way too much time to waste

DoMeDon · 28/07/2011 20:47

YANBU to find it totally strange that someone has manly and girlie softner!?! What a load of faff over a non-issue. Some women let the side down. I have had words with 3 different friends for making 'don't be such a girl' type comments to their sons recently. Anti-women from women confuse me the most!

IWantWine · 28/07/2011 20:47

Grin Grin at scurryfunge

pineapple70 · 28/07/2011 20:50

You had a conversation that 'turned' to conditioner? YABVU
:o

alowVera · 28/07/2011 20:51

I always wash hubby's clothes in a separate wash to mine, and also separate dd's, as I can't stand them smelling like an adult. Always use fairy for them.

Do I heck! I ain't got the time for that, I bung everything in Coloured and all!

Maybe she was a little OCD mixed with insane mixed with too much time on her hands. Does she not realise that some reside may be left behind? I'd have been tempted to ask if she put an empty wash on between loads to clean the machine.

AnnieLobeseder · 28/07/2011 20:51

Should the good lord choose to take me from this earth tonight, I would willingly go, safe in the knowledge that I have now, truly, heard it all.

Grin
Megatron · 28/07/2011 20:52

Can I just point out that I am normally thrilling conversation! I blame her - crazy fabric conditioner lady. I am INCREDIBLY interesting really.

Hassled · 28/07/2011 20:54

All fabric softener smells of the air freshener you get in mediocre pub toilets, doesn't it? Maybe some smells like the men's loos air freshener and some smells like the ladies.

EIther way, your aquaintance is indeed a loon.

cntfeatures · 28/07/2011 20:54

she has a good point why should the men have a feminine smell.

100years · 28/07/2011 20:59

We don't even use fabric conditioner, or washing powder. We have magic balls so our clothes smell of nothing. Tbh I don't like highly scented things and much prefer the no smell smell!

Salmotrutta · 28/07/2011 21:01

I don't actually use fabric softener............... AIBU? Grin

LadyOfTheManor · 28/07/2011 21:03

What does manly softener smell of? Mud and oil?

KoolAidKid · 28/07/2011 21:04

She needs to get a job

LadyOfTheManor · 28/07/2011 21:07

Why are flowers a feminine smell? Who decides?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/07/2011 21:08

I clicked on here to come a nd chastise you over the shouty title, but if every a thread needed it IT WAS THIS ONE!

She sounds like an utter Bold doily.

Is she usually away with the Fairy?

Do you take Comfort from the fact that we all agree with you almost?

My advice, Lenor her next time.

Grin

Btw AnnieL - top words.

Wink
Salmotrutta · 28/07/2011 21:10

Tchootnika · 28/07/2011 21:11
