I am clever and have a good sense of humour, but I can't keep up with some of the quick witted responses to some of these threads. So, while I can appreciate how funny the comments are, I just can't join in!!

Am I hopeless??

PS. there was involved in the writing of this thread. Is that a start?

ha, me too microserf. Funny but in real life i can be a bit of a clown - doesn't really transfer well to the PC and I end up sounding like the daughter of Mary Whitehouse!

Oh...I feel so much better!! Seriously, I want to have great responses to some of these threads, particularly the light hearted ones, and I just can't do it. To be fair, I'm not very quick in RL, either I'm one of those that thinks of great comebacks hours after!

I also believe myself to have a quick wit but I quickly learnt that I am a mere dot on the landscape compared to some of the insanely funny posters on here.

It's my mission in life now to post somthing so high up in the witty stakes to have readers comment on it for a few pages :)

Have lost count of the number of times I've composed a comment then not posted and when I have plucked up the courage I find I'm about 20 posts down so it's no longer relevant.....probably like this one. .

I just lurk a lot because I feel the same. Also sometimes can't fathom the way some threads go completely the opposite way to what I expected and people get a kicking

It's what's known as a serious sandwich.

It's all jokey and funny, then you post your most inspired and acerbic witty comment a nano-second after someone posts about how their mum died of whatever it was you were making fun of and you look like the biggest cunt in the world.

It happens to me a lot.

i spent 2 hours on the phone to my best friend talking about what would happen if bananas in pajamas were muslim. and wore hijabs/turbans and had beards etc my wit is nowhere near intelligent enough for this place so i just sit quietly lurking :)

Oh I have the same thought frequently OP. In real life I am actually the opposite and have a reputation for being able to use my wit quite effectively, especially in banter etc..

Don't know why but it just will not translate when I am on here but I think that is simply because i am typing. In RL I just say things off the cuff that I am thinking but the thought process isnt the same here.

I just appreciate the funny things others come up with, MN can be a very funny place sometimes.
