I am talking about people who feel the need to SHOUT every flipping sentence when talking to their DC? I went to ours this morning and as usual there were umpteen women who couldn't speak at a normal level...

"FREDDY! WOULD YOU LIKE A BICUIT DARLING???"

"HARRY! LOOK! LOOK AT THE TRAIN!!"

"OOOOOOOHHHHH CHARLOTTE! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ANENOME YOU'VE DRAWN!!!! THAT IS AN ANENOME! AN-EN-O-ME"

I wanted to say "NO! BODEN-CLAD WOMAN...

IT IS AN ANEMONE...AN-EM-O.NE!"

The kids are all like this and they play quietly and well...it's just these bloody loud women who swan....and stalk and dash importantly about the rooms like they own them! I want a playgroup where people talk normally!

It isn't just playgroups. There are always people that seem to think they are so interesting that other people want to hear them. I was in the centre of town yesterday when a woman walking in front of me squealed at her DS, 'OH LOOK DARLING, THERE'S THE SHOP I GET YOUR MUSIC STAND AND SHEET MUSIC FROM'. Do fuck off.

There is only one of these at my older child's school luckily....she's all "OH JEREMY! YOU GOT TEN OUT OF TEN! WELL DONE! SHALL WE GO TO THE MOST EXPENSIVE RESTURANT IN TOWN TO CELEBRATE??"

I was in a hospital waiting room recently. It was full of people quietly sitting waiting, reading magazines etc until a woman with 2 little children came in.

Well, lets just say that I'm sure everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they went as this mum just talked (on the verge of shouting) to her DC the entire time.

It was just a constant running commentary that was needless really...." ooh Harry look they've got books...you like books don't you Harry...lets see which ones they've got.....you've got this one haven't you....perhaps you'd like to look at this book....or would you like a raisin now....mummy put some in a pot for you .....I wonder when they will call us in....ooh look theres another book you like"

Poor Harry didn't get chance to utter a word the entire time they were there

I have once or twice tried to join in cheese but my efforts of "NO DARLING! WE DON'T LICK OTHER CHILDREN!" Don't sound so impressive.

Playgroups are the work of the devil. Avoid at all costs, I say

thank god for rural irish country life. We all drink tea and eat biscuits and chat about shite while the kids rampage around and only intervene to stop them attacking each other or throw food at them

summer rain thats what the playgroups around here are like and we are in a (very nice) small city. Maybe its catching - if one parent starts doing it others feel they have to?

Phew thankfully my days of playgroups are over. I have to say though that we went to centre parks after Christmas and it was full of pre-schoolers having taken my own kids out of school and it was FULL of these sort of parents, dads as well I just can't get over it myself. They fuss and faff over the kids so much why don't they just give them some space ffs
