I am a fan of Frankie Boyle. I am going to see him live this autumn. I'm a bit scared cos I'll be sitting near the front - I hope he doesn't pick on me! AIBU?

OTTMummA · 12/04/2011 17:20

is it easter hols yet?

TeddyMcardle · 12/04/2011 17:20

Yep.

SingingSands · 12/04/2011 17:20

Each to their own - I think he is disgusting!

And yes, if I was near the front I would be very scared!

2BoysTooLoud · 12/04/2011 17:21

mmmmmmmmmmmm..........he has a fan?

Pagwatch · 12/04/2011 17:21

That's great. He must have fans. You couldn't get a tattoo or something could you? It would save me time. Sometimes you can spend ages conversing with someone before you realise they are a bigot.

berrieberrie · 12/04/2011 17:22

Let's ignore this and go off on a slight tangent... what do people think of the pub landlord, whatever his name is. I watched him the other day and couldn't beleive how horrendously seist and racist he is... I mean, i know that's all part of the 'comedy' but it's really crap.

BrokenBananaTantrum · 12/04/2011 17:22

is that the prick guy that slagged Katie Price's son?

Mamazonhereggsclucking · 12/04/2011 17:23

Which part of his sexist, disablist, racist rantings do you find hilarious?

unsurevalentine · 12/04/2011 17:23

I used to like him but he last live show disgusted me tbh.

TheVisitor · 12/04/2011 17:23

I found him amusing on mock the week. His stand up far less so, as his comedy comes from insulting people, including minorities.

dontcallmepeanut · 12/04/2011 17:26

I liked him on Mock The Week... BUT he goes too far for my liking. Much like the ever so misogynistic Jimmy Carr... Hmm

TheCrackFox · 12/04/2011 17:27

He was vaguely funny on Mock the Week but his own show was utter crap. It was so bad it was actually embarrassing.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/04/2011 17:30

I did like him on Mock The Week. However, he was heavily restricted/edited on that show. Since he has left his true colours have made themselves known, I feel. He just tries to shock, so imo he isn't getting laughs through being amusing. People seem to be laughing in a 'OMG I can't believe he said that!' type of way. A comedy style I grew out of at around 13, IIRC.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/04/2011 17:31

offensive, unpleasant, vile stuff aside, he's just not very funny. In my humble opinion. John Bishop and Mickey Flanagan, however, are very funny live.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/04/2011 17:31

Yep, some of his jokes are hilarious, he owns my favourite joke.

I disliked his tramadol nights series, it was too grotesque for me - thought there was much worse than the Katie price joke. One sketch actually made me cry.

I thought he was brilliant on mock the week.

I couldn't go and watch him now in case it was like the tramadol nights stuff. I'd have to walk out.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/04/2011 17:33

Which joke, Laurie?

Pub landlord is taking the piss out of racists tho, isnt it?
Arent we laughing at him, not with him?

sunshineatlast · 12/04/2011 17:35

Frankie Boyle, too cruel to be funny.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/04/2011 17:38

Actually it's two.

They said mel Gibson couldn't play a Scot. And look at him now .............. An alcoholic racist.

Man walks into a pub in Glasgow and asks for a pint of lager and lime.
Barman: we don't do cocktails.

Appeals to my weegie sense of humour Wink

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 12/04/2011 17:39

That what i think sunshine we're laughing at him. The Pub Landlord is, in effect, a charactor played by Al Murry. If you watch Al Murry doing stand up as himself it is totally different. I personally find both very funny but think Frankie Boyle is an absolute disgrace. Can't stand him. And I bet it was the 'something wee hing' or something like that which made Laurie cry. It was completely repulsive. Sickening.

Topoff · 12/04/2011 17:39

So who do people like then?

My favorite is Bill Bailey, I've seen him live no swearing, no sex jokes, only ridicules ignorance and still funny and brilliant.
