I am a fan of Frankie Boyle. I am going to see him live this autumn. I'm a bit scared cos I'll be sitting near the front - I hope he doesn't pick on me! AIBU?

I have just seen a clip of wee hing and I didn't get it. I'm sure his live show will be funny.

I booked to see him live after seeing him on MTW. I agree that he was poor. His shock tactics were at the expense of being funny. Ditto his "banter" with the audience - just being mean, rather than funny. A few male students in the audience came over all Beavis and Butthead every time he said "cunt" or "arserape", which seemed to be his main themes, and i imagine that's who his target must be....

I would totally recommend Bill Bailey and Ross Noble though.

shannon matthews 'joke'

TheCowardlyLion · 12/04/2011 18:20

You didn't get the sketch you've just watched yet you're sure his live show will be funny? Yes, it's looking promising, isn't it? Hmm

FoofffyShmoofffer · 12/04/2011 18:22

YABU - He's a waste of good oxygen.

dontmarryadrinker · 12/04/2011 18:25

YABU - he is a twat and therefore that must mean that you are too OP. I hope he verbally rips the crap out of you.

Ill be controversial then and say I think some of frankies joke are hilarious.

A favourite on MTW was that Cherie Blair looks like a clown having a heart attack.
She really does.

But, Tramadol Nights was utter shit and he has gone downhill.

Katie Price should stop exploiting her childrens disability if she wants people to not mention it. But the comment was out of order as it was offensive to "non public" parents of disabled children.

YouaretooniceNOT · 12/04/2011 18:39

I have just watched some of Frankie Boyle on Youtube and i LMAO!!

YouaretooniceNOT · 12/04/2011 18:43

I avoided it becuase of his disability jokes etc Typical of a woman changing her mind after sex change made me LOL

I loved him on Mock the Week, he was the funniest thing about the programme, watched it just for him. So funny. But Tramadol Nights wa sawful - its funny how quickly your opinion of someone can change for the worst - the show was awful, truly dire. I know a lot of it was offensive, but a big issue for me was it just wasnt funny.

Flowerpot - i didn't know about specific 'jokes' - just avoided because i knew there were some - i'm sure the first time i settled to watch the programme his first joke was at the expense of disability. It really made me depressed actually - yeah.

My son is SN.

The link i just watched a part of it was funny but i cant watch the whole show as it would kill me inside if i heard his prejudice, vile verbal shit.

I agree Mary - if he was genuinely funny then he wouldnt need all the shock value jokes.

GreenEyesandHam · 12/04/2011 19:24

I went to see him live a couple of years ago, when he was on MTW.

Absolutely dire, the worst I've ever seen. Lazy, offensive, and disinterested, 95% of his material he'd done on telly, and the other 5% was just offensive nonsense.

Dara O Briain is fantastic live, as is Michael McIntyre and Rich Hall

And I'm going to see Tim Minchin this weekend, YAY!!

nulliusxinxverbax · 12/04/2011 20:37

Now tim minchin is brilliant, very talented and i love his songs!!!

Maryz Yes actually you are right, I agree. KP complaining about it is a little two faced the way she carries on, but I suppose her children cannot choose how she behaves.

claretandcheese · 12/04/2011 22:00

If you go to see Dara O'Briain make sure you take your Tena lady with you. Frankie Boyle could be funny if he stopped deliberately trying to shock. Someone should tell him vile and puerile isn't funny.

Which part of his sexist, disablist, racist rantings do you find hilarious?

All of them. He's hilarious.

Mamazonhereggsclucking · 12/04/2011 22:07

then you are scum

tallulahxhunny · 12/04/2011 22:14

i admit i find him quite funny too, of course some of his stuff is close to the bone but thats what makes him different, too many PC issues about now!

ShowOfHands · 12/04/2011 22:15

Oh sweet moses, they're all coming out now.
