I am a fan of Frankie Boyle. I am going to see him live this autumn. I'm a bit scared cos I'll be sitting near the front - I hope he doesn't pick on me! AIBU?

Ahh made you cry laughing - I get it.

Shoesytwoesy · 12/04/2011 17:42

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/04/2011 17:42

Laurie, they're not bad actually Grin

I like Rich Hall, Dylan Moran and Kevin Bridges

berrieberrie · 12/04/2011 17:42

sunshineatlast In the one i saw he picked on a row of women in the front row and asked them each in turn what they did for work.. then basically told them each thing came down to 'secretary' they all looked really uncomfortable.

I guess he is just making a joke but then why is it not seen that Boyle is too, by that logic?

Michael Mackytire for me, all the way. love him. Good, clean fun.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/04/2011 17:44

No, no - made me cry with disgust. It was the magical wee hing.

Worst thing I've ever seen.

Hulababy · 12/04/2011 17:45

He's vile. I saw him live last year (or year beofre, can't remember) after seeing him of that panel show he ws always on. But he was crude, offensive and trying to hard throughout te whole thing. the audience weren;t really with him at all. There was a little laughter bu mostly there was that uncomfortable type of laughing when people are not really sure what to do and are cringing inside.

So different to going to see Michael McIntyre a year later, and more recently Punt and Dennis. They were both genuinely funny with no need for crudeness or offensiveness. They made you laugh properly, til your sides actually hurt.

Ditto Chickenshavenoeyebrows....

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/04/2011 17:46

Oh! And of course Eddie Izzard and his evil giraffes Grin

noddyholder · 12/04/2011 17:46

Went to see Mickey flanagan sunday night now he is very funny! He is about to overtake Michael McIntyre in terms of sales and popularity and he really deserves it. He is an ex scaffolder who went to uni and did a sociology degree and married a middle class woman and the whole show is based on his observations of the differences and how ridiculous it all is!

LaurieFairyCake · 12/04/2011 17:46

Is it Dylan Moran with the joke about chocolate croissants and the frennch eating chocolate bread and ending up fucking each other by lunchtime?

Very funny man. Also like micheal McIntyre.

FanjOeuForTheMammaries · 12/04/2011 17:47

LaurieFairyCake · 12/04/2011 17:48

MarioandLuigi · 12/04/2011 17:50

I am going to see Alan Carr in October for my Birthday. Peter Kay was hilarious last time I saw him.

VeryStressedMum · 12/04/2011 17:51

Some of the stuff, as others have said, on MTW was funny. The rest just leaves you feeling somehow soiled.

oohlaalaa · 12/04/2011 17:55

I think he is far too cruel.

TheCowardlyLion · 12/04/2011 17:58

Nothing less funny in my opinion than someone who has to try so hard to get a reaction and is only able to do it through bigotry. Compare him to Eddie Izzard whose comedy is intelligent, original and - are you taking notes, Frankie? - funny. Eddie Izzard understands satire - Boyle doesn't get that he is only the target of satire, incapable of the intelligence necessary to be a gifted satirist himself.

YouaretooniceNOT · 12/04/2011 17:58

Lee Evans - especially when he talks about his wife!

RoseC · 12/04/2011 17:58

I've only ever seen Boyle on MTW... just googled wee hing and feel disturbed. Don't think I've ever had my opinion of someone changed so quickly.

YouaretooniceNOT · 12/04/2011 18:01

wee hing?

RoseC · 12/04/2011 18:07

Seems to be a really, really sick take on Five Children and It. Starts off normal and then children degenerate into violence and really twisted things they do to the Psammead, including setting a dog on him (and worse). I can't believe the children's parents allowed them to do it, even if they filmed from two separate cameras. Bleugh.

tethersegg · 12/04/2011 18:09

He's the poor man's Jerry Sadowitz.
