I've just read a thread where a poster was influenced to buy somthing really expensive because of a poster on here.

I think BOF has influenced me by her posting style which is very funny and she deals with bad issues with OP's without being nasty and personal. I hope I have become funnier and kinder because of seeing how she is.

Also I was persuaded to go and buy a steam mop by ChippyMinton - so she's obviously imfluenced me.

And a moon-cup - but I can't remember which single OP that was.

Who has influenced you? (on here)

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 08/04/2011 21:27

One poster hasn't influenced me as such, but a group consensus about certain things has changed the way I think.

Like the mums who have children with special needs have changed the way I interpret things I see in RL, I wasn't a tutter, but I didn't appreciate the reasons why some people did certain things IYSWIM?

LauraNorder · 08/04/2011 21:29

I was influenced by the whole steam mop thread and it has changed my life - but then I am sad Grin

SouthGoingZax · 08/04/2011 21:29

The collective has converted me to Boden.

I really didn't get it. Then I spent a while looking. Saw it was free returns, thought 'What the heck', ordered a few things.

When I tried them on I looked lovely. Hook, line and sinker and now I have a Boden addiction.

Thanks MN. Wink

< influences Thingummy> Wine

ShirleyKnot · 08/04/2011 21:38

Is the bar open Thingummy?

That sodding Feminism topic has changed me. I don't even post over there, just lurk a bit, but DAMN has it made me all bloody angry and upset. I want my cognitive dissonance back - does anyone know how to do that?

(One of my best friends pops into Mumsnet now and again and I actually warned her not to look at Feminism as she'd start the rage Grin)

usualsuspect · 08/04/2011 21:38

Drunk thread is open and ignored Sad

Thingumy · 08/04/2011 21:39

have you started the drunk thread yet usual?

Goblinchild · 08/04/2011 21:39

'Like the mums who have children with special needs have changed the way I interpret things I see in RL, I wasn't a tutter, but I didn't appreciate the reasons why some people did certain things IYSWIM?'

Smile That's fantastic!

K999 · 08/04/2011 21:40

BARs open on another thread! Come on over, plenty of booze and the duke box is on! Grin

GypsyMoth · 08/04/2011 21:40

drunk?? i only have coffee......i'm excludedSad

Plonkerr · 08/04/2011 21:42

Slightly different, I know, but I have been massively influenced IRL by Memoo.

We worked together years ago and I love her dearly. She's one of life's genuinly lovely lovely people. Her parenting style has had a big influence on how I parent my dd's.

ShirleyKnot · 08/04/2011 21:43

Wait wait wait.

There are two pissed up threads running now.

The old styleee BAR and the new Drunk Thread.

You've got a dukebox? Is that the same as a jukebox or does it just have pictures of revolving peers of the realm? Grin

usualsuspect · 08/04/2011 21:45

pub crawl anyone?

sloggies · 08/04/2011 21:46

Hecate always 'does' good posts. Always the voice of reason, never nasty, but tells it like it is. I raise my Wine to her!

MmeSurvivedLent · 08/04/2011 21:53

yy to the posters on the SN boards, and the mothers who have lost children - not so much influenced as educated.

The feminist board has ruined my enjoyment of trashy romance novels. Or I am thinking "She needs to get on MN Relationship board and ask if SIBU".

CptNancy once said to me that she liked my writing style, and that gave me the confidence to start writing.

SOH's ideas about non-confrontational parenting style.

tallwivglasses · 08/04/2011 21:58

The amazing ladies on the relationships topic. I think my life would have been very different if I'd discovered mn a few years ago, instead of a few months.

Still, better late than never.

And I bought a steam mop Grin

marmaladetwatkins · 08/04/2011 21:59

SHIRLEYKNOT influenced me to get my fat ass onto Slimming World and also to drink more wine on a Friday...

ShirleyKnot · 08/04/2011 22:00

Mme - Do you know how to get the cognitive dissonance back?

I'm all snippy at work and all at stuff on the TV and all "DO THE WASHING UP" to my boys.

I've bored the pants off all my mum's friends (who are in their 60's) about The Patriarchy and I've started spitting in Boots.

HELP ME.

bibbitybobbityhat · 08/04/2011 22:02

Blush no one and nothing.

I can't think of a single way I've changed, or anything I've bought, or anything I've done differently as the result of being on Mumsnet almost every day for 5 years.

Perhaps I am not very influenceable?

sloggies · 08/04/2011 22:03

However, even Hecate could not influence me to buy a steam-mop!

AintMissBeehiving · 08/04/2011 22:06

Bloddy Stealth and her Oven Pride. I'm now an addict.

MmeSurvivedLent · 08/04/2011 22:08
