I've just read a thread where a poster was influenced to buy somthing really expensive because of a poster on here.

I think BOF has influenced me by her posting style which is very funny and she deals with bad issues with OP's without being nasty and personal. I hope I have become funnier and kinder because of seeing how she is.

Also I was persuaded to go and buy a steam mop by ChippyMinton - so she's obviously imfluenced me.

And a moon-cup - but I can't remember which single OP that was.

Who has influenced you? (on here)

OP posts:

'shineoncrazydiamond Fri 08-Apr-11 22:18:00
fellatio has recently influenced me and GOT ME INTO TROUBLE!'

That made me smile. Have I just got a dirty mind?

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/04/2011 11:05

More seriously -

Hullygully is always thoughtful and considerate, yet blisteringly sharp and funny. (This might be why I don't post much, as I'd like to be like that, but know I'm not.)

Pagwatch is also both commonsensical and funny. And I always remember her saying something like 'DH and I have done well in material terms, but having a DS with SN has made us really think about things.' That really made me think too.

And I'd like to second what ShirleyKnot and others have said - I have lost hours of my life to the Feminism section, especially in reading theoretical discussions there, so many thanks to Dittany and company for engaging my brain and making me reflect on stuff I haven't thought about in a long while.

bellavita · 09/04/2011 11:09

Of course you have a dirty mind Princess!! Grin

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/04/2011 11:14

Oh, and of course I always agree with Bran.

bellavita · 09/04/2011 11:22

Oh don't be Blush Princess Grin

Knowing Shiney as I do it made me Grin aswell.

pink4ever · 09/04/2011 11:33

Cant believe noone has mentioned peterandreforpm yet(no nonsense but sensible advice).
Also tethers has influenced as I actively avoid any recommendations she makes on style(suspect she is thin and lovely so only posts what would suit her not us normal folkWink.
bluddymofo-simply because the name always makes me Grin.

NinkyNonker · 09/04/2011 11:44

Me. Always me.

forehead · 09/04/2011 11:47

Anyone who gives good advice. There are a lot of very bright women on MN.
I've learned a hell of a lot.

ineedagoodsolicitor · 09/04/2011 12:22

Cod, although to be fair I needed a kick up the backside re potty training for dc1 when I joined one of her potty training boot camps years ago.

I bet anyone who says they are not influenced by anyone else are the sort of people who post on AIBU and then get annoyed if another MN'er says actually YABU.

AlpinePony · 09/04/2011 12:23

Fucking help. Are you for real? This isn't school you know and you don't have to suck up to the cool gang in upper sixth. Ffs.

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/04/2011 12:32

Thanks Bella (phew).

Can I just add (controversial post alert):
FellatioNelson - because even though she voted for Dave, I find her posts interesting, thoughtful and funny.

I am an old lefty who tends to find right-wingers a bit Hmm. (That's the controversial bit.) So hooray to FN, who has reminded me that not all Tories are, errm, Hmm. (I think that's a continuation of the controversial bit.)

MmeSurvivedLent · 09/04/2011 12:41

Love that quote from Goblinchild.

Cngrats on the job. May I ask [nosy] how cod helped you get it? Am thinking she did a trinny and Susannah intervention. I missed the albino joke, but glad to see you were able to educate folk on the topic because of it.

It is not really a fave MNetter thread though. Some of the posters mentioned are not particularly well known, but have influenced others in a significant way.

Asinine · 09/04/2011 15:54

Moon cup convert, really wish I'd got one years ago. It was several threads, rather than one person.

nope, I'm not like that at all Grin.

And yes I did miss you shoesy. I did. How did you know? Were you a-lurking?

CheerfulYank · 09/04/2011 18:46

I don't wear the clothes, but I've got a few scarves and some stripey socks. And maybe a winter hat?

Oh I've thought of one:

Someone (can't remember who, could be Shirley or DirtyMartini) has taught me to say

What the actual fuck?

I love that.

Reality has taught me not to talk about lunch or snacks when she might be online because there's always a risk she will sneak up with her raw egg on toast bollocks Grin.
