I'm still smirking over the golden globes debacle. I don't think we've had a thread on this yet...and this should probably be on another part of the site but cba to look for it Grin

I loved it. He must have brass bloocks to stand there and say those things without cringing. The jokes were funny, the ruffled feathers of the usually fawned to stars were funnier.

thereistheball · 18/01/2011 10:50

BendyBob - they did know what they were getting, because he did it last year too.

Have you seen

mayorquimby · 18/01/2011 10:50

There were a few who absolutely loved it though. Baldwin and DeNiro have been singing his praise.

philmassive · 18/01/2011 10:51

Didn't see the GG's but I do think Ricky Gervais is a one trick pony.

NettleTea · 18/01/2011 10:53

Fantastic!
They must have known what they would get when they booked him....

hilarious, and can't stand him normally!

IWantToBeAFairyWhenIGrowUp · 18/01/2011 11:00

I can't stand him, but that was really funny.

kittya · 18/01/2011 11:00

will it be repeated? I normally cant stand the guy but, Im very curious. If Bob liked him then it must've been good!!

LouMacca · 18/01/2011 11:05

Don't usually like or watch Ricky Gervais but this is quality!

TubbyDuffs · 18/01/2011 11:05

I do like him, and I thought it was very funny, although cringeworthy... I actually had to walk away from the screen a couple of times.

twirlymum · 18/01/2011 11:09

I bet a lot of people wanted to laugh but felt they shouldn't.
Some stars were laughing, then as soon as the camera went on them they stopped, Halle Berry was one IIRR.
Very very funny.

IWishIWasAFrog · 18/01/2011 11:27

Ooopsadaisy · 18/01/2011 12:31

Did Russell Brand do this gig a few years ago?

I'm surprised that I can't recall him upsetting anyone or have I got the wrong ceremony entirely?

thebrownstuff · 18/01/2011 12:44

"Please welcome Ashton Kutchers dad, Bruce Willis"!!!!

Nancy66 · 18/01/2011 12:47

I thought he was great - everyone in LA takes themselves so bloody seriously. Just what they needed.

LetThereBeRock · 18/01/2011 13:06

'I think he has a huge issue with celebrity culture and the self congratulatory tone of Hollywood and wanted to stick two fingers up to them.'

Have you seen or read any interviews with him? He loves himself.

I can't stand him. He's a complete twunt.

TwoIfBySea · 18/01/2011 13:08

He was interviewed a time before this and said he obviously hadn't done a good enough job last year because they'd asked him back. So he did warn them he was going to be provocative.

I love that he deflated some egos big style and it is very clear who has a sense of humour and who doesn't. Some of the celebs do need a little reality check now and again.

cornslik · 18/01/2011 13:12

they showed it last night on TV but had cut the naughtier bits out of the intro. Couldn't be arsed to watch past that - I just want to see RG's bits.

PatFig · 18/01/2011 13:15

Hr thinks he is funnier than he really is

PatFig · 18/01/2011 13:16

not hr I mean HE
