I love Nigella Lawson even though I can see she's a bit annoying.

Kelis, she was very mumsy and normal on BBC breakfast a few months ago.

Jeremy Paxman, I would love to be that gobby in RL.

badcoverversion · 17/12/2010 15:15

David Lynch, Vincent Gallo and Lars Von Trier all have reputations for being "difficult" and it just makes me love them all the more.

Chris Morris, Alan Bennett, Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Louis C.K. would also elicit a slightly hysterical fangirl response from me.

TheSmallClanger · 17/12/2010 15:15

Victoria Wood, in her stand-up days. I know her style of comedy isn't fashionable any more, but her routines still have me falling about laughing.

RitaLynn · 17/12/2010 15:20

George Bush,

I know he's an idiot, but if he were a neighbour or a friend, I think he'd be great

wintersnow · 17/12/2010 15:20

Simon Cowell Blush

VallhalaLalalalalalalalaaaaaa · 17/12/2010 15:22

Ulrika Jonsson. Pretty, clever, gutsy and so bloody what who she shags, it's got sod all to do with me!

Paxo is just God, Meglit. :o

KERALA1 · 17/12/2010 15:23

Helena Bonham Carter. She used to live near me and once when I was stressed she gave me a massive smile for no reason. Have really liked her since then. Also she always looked abit bonkers when out and about so is the antithesis of amazing well groomed film star. I felt quite up together next to her.

Megletitsnow · 17/12/2010 15:23

Mariah Carey. She has a lingerie room in her apartment and her walk in wardrobe is bigger than my house. Envy. (Secret MTV Cribs watcher)

WinkyWinkola · 17/12/2010 15:23

Simon Cowell, me too. I heard he gives a lot of money to charity.

I love Mariella Frostrup. Nothing irrational about that.

StillSquiffy · 17/12/2010 15:24

Ben Fogle. It's like having a faithful labrador running round the TV screen

GetOrfMoiLand · 17/12/2010 15:27

Fiona Phillips. I know that loads of people think she is annoying but I think she is very warm and approachable looking.

Vanessa Feltz. I bet she is a good laugh, and she seems very clever despite the lowbrow career.

Piers Morgan. I am very ashamed of this but I do like him.

William Hague. He seems a nice bloke.

Kate Middleton's mum. Called all sorts of vile disparaging names such as jumped up, pushy, but I admire someone who started as a air hostess, built up a business and earned her money rather than inheritied it.

GetOrfMoiLand · 17/12/2010 15:28

Michael Winner. I love him

LeMarron · 17/12/2010 15:32

I am with you on Kate Middleton's mum, GetOrf. I always thought that the nastiness around her was basically misogyny... you never hear about KM's dad being crucifed in the same way.

The stuff that came out of Prince W's cronies sniggering 'door to manual' really anoyed me. I mean, at least she HAS a job.

I like hague too.

i love Angelina Jolie.... she is sexy plus. I love Isabella Rossellini too in a major way. Sigh. Envy wish I looked like that.

tinselthechaffinch · 17/12/2010 15:36

Jon Snow I'm fond of

LeMarron · 17/12/2010 15:41

[edited to add that the comment about KM's mum having a job was not intended to insult anyone on MN who may be job seeking. But to insult those smug bastard cronies of Prince W who have inherited their money but feel they can criticise a woman who has earned an honest crust.]

[needing to explain in case causing unintentional hurt emoticon]

sorry. Blush

flabbygirl · 17/12/2010 15:41

Sophia Loren - she's a crap acress. Her 'almond' eyes are due to makeup (the thing that makes here 'beautiful' etc) but she's such a showbiz oldie and her experience makes her just absolutely brilliant in her 'old' age just giving interviews.

Don't want to be her at all, but just love her for what she is today.

StillSquiffy · 17/12/2010 15:47

GetOrfMoiLand - your love of Michael Winner is truly irrational. He makes my skin creep.

Chil1234 · 17/12/2010 15:49

So ashamed to admit this and will probably need a therapist in due course but... Alec Salmond!! Don't agree with his politics or that cocky swagger he puts on and he's certainly no oil painting but ... help... I can't help liking the man.

evenkeel · 17/12/2010 15:55

YY to Alan Bennett. And the other person I always feel is a real, genuine, intelligent, lovely person is Sheila Hancock. She did a great 'Who Do You Think You Are'. And on R4 the other night she was superb reading her old teenage diaries - really brought a tear to the eye.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 17/12/2010 15:57

I like Dennis Skinner too. I struggle to think of another politician who I like.

Also: Vanessa Feltz, Mariella, Mariah

I have quite irrational fondness for sluts and drunks misunderstood and emotional people.

Kate Moss
Pete Doherty
Snoop Dogg
Lindsay Lohan
Sienna Miller

I will forgive Michael Winner everything for that TV exchange where he ripped the shit out of Richard Littlejohn.

perfectstorm · 17/12/2010 16:27

Sheila Hancock seconded - Mum is a Quaker and knows her a bit, and says she is one of the most thoughtful and kind women imaginable. Also I think Emma Thompson is a genuinely decent person - she really seems to walk the talk in terms of her commitment to the things she believes in. Adopting an adolescent as she did is a great thing to do, and I really like the way she plainly feels she was the lucky one, that he's enriched her life more than vice versa. She does a lot for homelessness charities as well as HIV ones.

I think Keanu Reeves seems lovely as well, and not just because he's incredibly beautiful. He's apparently given away millions to behind-the-scenes film crews, through signing away some of his profit-share rights. And according to a local paper when I was in LA, he scared some kids who were racially abusing a till worker in a supermarket. He intervened and told them to show her some respect; they stared and said, are you Neo? So he agreed that he was, and that they might want to piss off before he gave them a demonstration.

perfectstorm · 17/12/2010 16:28

Oh and Jane Lynch - Sue on Glee. I know absolutely nothing about her to make me have such a huge soft spot, but I do. I love her.
