So please to be different. Tell us all which famous people you irrationally LIKE
or even worship?

Jeremy Clarkson... shall I get my coat now?

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 17/12/2010 16:36

It's not irrational to like Emma Thompson and Jane Lynch though is it?

I will add George Formby - though I cannot bear his music or films - when he toured South Africa he refused to play to segregated audiences and got into trouble with the apartheid leadership as a result.

jojosmaman that made me laugh out loud.

Forgot to say I also root for KM's Mum. The crime of having worked hard and been lucky and built a good life for your family. How very dare she.

Jane Lynch it is, isn't it? I mean, I don't know her, or even anything about her. All I know is she plays an amoral, albeit hilarious, bitch.

Cicatrice · 17/12/2010 16:39

Victoria Beckham

BootyMum · 17/12/2010 16:39

Jo Brand - funny and real. Love the medical comedy she is in. I used to work as a nurse in the NHS and it just rings so true. And is hilarious in a muted poignant sort of way iyswim...

I also quite like Kirstie Allsopp - I should be incredibly irritated by her - posh wealthy privileged type trying to convert the plebs to her utopian view of the world [some of us have jobs and no nanny, housekeeper, etc so no time to be faffing about making Christmas decorations] however she comes across as warm and unpretentious. Is beautiful in a very approachable sort of way, wears lovely but ordinary clothes and I find her aspirational... even though I am completely deluded and will never have her money, her home, her looks, accent or status in society. Oh well, still think she is lovely really.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 17/12/2010 16:40

And on that bombshell...

I like JC too. It's his love of the English language and imaginatively over-embroidered simile that gets me every time despite having quite the opposite view on motorists rights and responsibilities.

Quenelle · 17/12/2010 16:41

Simon Calder - wish he was my friend.

Emma Thompson - love her style of acting.

Neither of them are irrational though are they?

David Steel

thecatatemygymsuit · 17/12/2010 16:41

I like Sienna and Ulrika too, think they have had an unfair slating in thepress (maybe because both pretty and blonde?).
Loving Keanu that little bit more after reading the fab anecdote about him sigh.
I irrationally like Liz Hurley and Ronnie Corbett, for the record.

StarlightPrincess · 17/12/2010 16:41

I just love Janet Street-Porter, she's so outspoken, she makes me laugh so much. Oh and Kim Cattrall- just fabulous, dahhhling!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 17/12/2010 16:42

Sorry perfectstorm - I have never seen Glee so don't know who she pays on that. Just know her work as a character actress and hear in real life she is super-lovely.

TinselinaBumSquash · 17/12/2010 16:43

I love Simon Cowell, he was lovely to me on Twitter and he said my DS was adorable. Xmas Grin

I also love Jamie Oliver and bonkers ole Nigella. Xmas Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 17/12/2010 16:44

Oh yes Victoria Beckham.

I have always liked her, think she is bright and warm, despite her sometimes chilly persona. Plus I hate the way she is slated as being too thin/anorexic. I think she looks great.

Plus I am very pleased for her in her clothes designing success. Good for her.

And look at those 3 kids, how adorable they seem. She and DB seem like good parents.

capricorn76 · 17/12/2010 16:48

Kate Moss
Naomi Campbell
Kirsty Allsopp

follyfoot · 17/12/2010 16:48

Nigel Slater - his voice is so calming

Alan Bennett, just a master of his art.

Stephen Fry. Oh I love him, so full of insecurities but so bleddy clever.

Dawn French - I think she's beautiful. I'd love to be mates with her.

And finally James May, just seems a nice but hapless sort of bloke.

southeastastra · 17/12/2010 16:50

danny dyer :S don't worship him though

southeastastra · 17/12/2010 16:51

hmm i could set up a danny dyer shrine though in the cupboard under the stairs - dps face would be a picture if he ever found it

I thought of name-changing for this Xmas Blush

I just love Philip Schofield. And Holly Willoughby.

And Kirstie Allsopp and her extremely posh 'DIY' christmas programme.

So there. Xmas Wink

PURPLESWAN · 17/12/2010 17:18

Stephen Moyer - or though hes rather handsome so is that illogical?

Matthew Wright hes so opinionated and takes the p out of Mumsnet but he often says what I want to!
