when MN gets mentioned in the national press(and it does) it is always the rudeness and vulagarity of some posters which is highlighted.

Mumsnet deserves better than the footie crowd pining for the next match

Bear anyone?

MassiveKnob · 19/11/2010 14:35

link?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 19/11/2010 14:37

Yes. It is.

When is the last time something nice, good, cheery, heartwarming was reported?

People Being Nice And Supportive is not a juicy story. Blame journalists. Or blame the public for wanting only the bad things, the things they can be outraged about, the shock-horror-gasp things. Or sleb shit. Hmm Oh, or mindless moron can kick a bit of leather round a field This Man Is God.

Site For Parents Regularly Rallies Round And Helps And Supports Members And They Have A Great Sense Of Humour.

forget it! Never going to happen.

So. People read mumsnet is full of sweary bitches. And?

They come on and read? Well, within 5 minutes you get a true picture.

They don't come on? So what?

Anyway - who cares?

GabbyLoggon · 19/11/2010 14:38

You sound as if you are straight from the pub and incapable of doing debate.

Mumsnet deserves better than that.

ginhag · 19/11/2010 14:41

Mumsnet deserves better than that???

For some reason I find that sentence hilarious.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/11/2010 14:42

that has got to be possibly the worst attempt at a personal attack I have ever seen on MN Grin

Memoo · 19/11/2010 14:43

Hello again Gabby, what bollocks have you got for us today?

kenobi · 19/11/2010 14:43

I disagree. I like Hecate's writing style. It's vigorous, natural and vivid.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 19/11/2010 14:43

I take offence at that. I think I argued my pov quite well, covering what makes news, what people are and are not interested in, what media coverage is likely to do and ending with a dose of reality - mumsnet isn't really that important globally!

zingzillachinchilla · 19/11/2010 14:44

Straight from the pub and incabable of debate?? I think you mean hecate disagreed with your pov? Hmm

tethersend · 19/11/2010 14:46

Gabby, check your other two threads on this exact subject.

I am not alone in my love for your posts Smile

ginhag · 19/11/2010 14:46

I haven't ever actually seen anything about our 'rudeness and vulgarity' in the press, despite having seen mn mentioned many times...

Having said that, I don't read the mail.

mumsnet deserves better

TrillianAstra · 19/11/2010 14:47

"Incapable of doing debate"?

MN deserves better than that.

ginhag · 19/11/2010 14:48

Was Gabby's second post actually in response to Hecate though? I thought it was just continuing the depiction of everyone here are ranting vulgar harpies... Which I rather like tbh :)

ginhag · 19/11/2010 14:49

are as

Mumsnet really deserves better than my typing skills.

TanteRoseAliveAndKicking · 19/11/2010 14:50

I'm liking "vulagarity"..

could be a name of a sultry filmstar

Ms. Vula Garity stars in....

HeadFairy · 19/11/2010 14:50

I came to mumsnet when I read about how Mners stopped someone from committing suicide and was really intrigued. I stayed because of the sweary gobshites :o

thefirstMrsDeVere · 19/11/2010 14:51

You should have a look at some of my threads.
I have received nothing but the most amazing support and genuine concern. People have been wonderful.

Apart from my 'Monkeyfucker' thread. I got a few Hmms on that one.

AgentZigzag · 19/11/2010 14:51

You're not alone tethersend, I love Gabz too

The threads are just such an insightful commentary on life, the universe and everthing.

ginhag · 19/11/2010 14:53

Is it time to start swearing yet?

IslaValargeone · 19/11/2010 14:53

I'm fairly new here, and joined as a result of reading about the site time and time again in various publications.
I have to say, not once did I read about rudeness and vulgarity.

MoralDefective · 19/11/2010 14:54

Sweary gobshites Grin
What DOES Mumsnet deserve then?

pottonista · 19/11/2010 14:58

@ MoralDefective:

Pom bears.

ZeroMinusZero · 19/11/2010 14:58

Its probably because I don't read shit newspapers, but how often is mumsnet actually mentioned in the press? Surely even the most inane of news organs don't bother to report on the comings and goings of aibu... Do they..?
