when MN gets mentioned in the national press(and it does) it is always the rudeness and vulagarity of some posters which is highlighted.

Mumsnet deserves better than the footie crowd pining for the next match

Back from the pub?

I think you'll find Hecate follows Islam, Log-head.

Unless my spreadsheet is wrong.

fatlazymummy · 19/11/2010 15:00

The uncensored swearing is one of the best things about Mumsnet IMO.
There are also some very supportive posters, which is another very good thing.
Really though, Mumsnet is just an internet forum, one of many. It's not a 'holy oracle' or the definitive version of the truth. It's just a group of people expressing their opinions and is best treated as such.
I don't think Mumsnet deserves better, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 19/11/2010 15:01

I wish I had been to the pub, and therefore could have come back from it

MoralDefective · 19/11/2010 15:05

Pub anyone?
Pick the kiddies up from school and pop in for a few pints and a few fags.
Keep the DCs quiet with fruit shoots and crisps then they won't need any tea.

AgentZigzag · 19/11/2010 15:05

What would you have had if you'd been down the pub chickens?

I'm partial to a creme de menthe on the rocks, but only on special occasions mind.

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 19/11/2010 15:07

I think today I would have gone for a huge goblet of Baileys with pleanty of ice. Or maybe a lager and lime. Or both.

AgentZigzag · 19/11/2010 15:10

Oh, you sophisticate chickens Grin

With scratchings on the side I presume hehe

aquavit · 19/11/2010 15:10

I was down the pub last night, and had some too much truly awful red wine.

I find the sweary gobshitery around here quite soothing for my hangover actually

AnyFuleKno · 19/11/2010 15:14

gabby what can you possibly be getting out of this? I just don't understand why you continue to post rhetorical nonsense. I'm getting pretty bored of you now, I must admit.

OnlyWantsOne · 19/11/2010 15:16

fucking Bear to you all...

Grin and awuavit as you need some extra support today, shit fuck twat toss

2shoes · 19/11/2010 15:17

why does mn not ban the troll?

zingzillachinchilla · 19/11/2010 15:18

Why was hobnobs post deleted? Didn't it mention loons or something? Didn't think it was particularly offensive... and certainly not up the usual permitted MN sweariness, for sure!!

OnlyWantsOne · 19/11/2010 15:19

are we not allowed to mention loons zingzilla?

But we are allowed to say cunt.

Claygate · 19/11/2010 15:20

It's difficult to type with expression and get ones mood across. Often posters see something in a post that is not intended and it soon degenerates. You should see some religious discussion boards to see how mad it gets.

I wonder whether there is much use to discussion boards when we stray further than asking for simple recommendations. As soon as it gets onto policy and opinion it falls apart.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 19/11/2010 15:21

Log -head Grin

Dont know why I find that so funny.

aquavit · 19/11/2010 15:24

thank you only

salty snacks are also helping (Bear)

Nancy66 · 19/11/2010 15:28

Have you read some of the responses journalists get when they post requests in the media section. Pretty vile some of them.

If that's a journos first contact with MN then they'd be within their rights to make those assumptions.

zingzillachinchilla · 19/11/2010 15:28

I rather like loons, but agree it's WAY more offensive than any other alternatives (including the c word)

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/11/2010 15:44

So I can call the OP a cunt but not a loon ! Bloody hell!!!

OnlyWantsOne · 19/11/2010 15:46

Yes that's right... but dont call any one a cunt on the feminist board for fuck sake!!

kenobi · 19/11/2010 16:58

I thought this was a loon?

zingzillachinchilla · 19/11/2010 17:19

Kenobi - easy mistake to make - that's a common loon - I do hope you aren't suggesting hobnob would use such a common term? Quite probably, hobnob meant it an exclusive fashion, which clearly changes the definition of loon to mean the worst possible insult... or according to MNHQ she must have, otherwise why else would her post have been deleted?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/11/2010 13:10

Grin Sadly my birdwatching hobby has been outed!

MoralDefective · 20/11/2010 17:56

Loon Pants
Groovy,hip trousers from the '70's.Grin

tigerchilli · 20/11/2010 19:15

Ah yes, loon pants. My Exh once trapped his in the car door but didn't notice until he tried to apply the brakes Grin
