I definitely would.

Maybe twice.

Clarissa is really good -I've got it loaded on my iPod and have listened to it (cough) times - Mr Lovelace is a very bad man though - but RA plays him so well. Episode 2 is my favourite.

cupcakesandbunting · 21/10/2010 09:28

You haven't scared me off. I've been lurking, just haven't had much to say regarding RA that I haven't said before.

Still. Leather trousers.

Hello, ladies.

MrsLucasNorth · 21/10/2010 16:31

Theresahole - I know the clip you mean - haven't seen it since my first forays into YouTube a few weeks back - now I'm going to have to go hunting for the bloody thing (and I'm supposed to birthday shopping for DH and doing helping with DD's homework!)

Theresaholeinyourmind · 21/10/2010 17:32

Ooooh, good luck, Mrs LN, if you find it I shall bookmark it. I haven't the chance to go searching myself just now, too much vital RL stuff to do.:(

Do you want to listen to it too, or are you just trying to deflect attention from Lucas?

MrsLucasNorth · 21/10/2010 18:21

I'd pretty much take Richard Armitage any way he was on offer tbh Wink

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 21/10/2010 18:36

Oh coming back to this thread always cheers me up!

I know that Lovelace is a Very Bad Man indeed (I've read that one, too, and am willing to suspend my feminist principles for the Sake of Art) but I imagine that Mr Armitage will play him very well, what with all that brooding and menacing at which he is so skilled. And it reminds me - pace yesterday's discussion of the rival attractions of Mr Rickman - of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. The SmallBloke saw Mr Rickman in that in the thee-ay-ter, although sadly by the time I got to see it he had been replaced by the slightly less scrumptious Greg Hicks. And then, of course, there was Mr Malkovich in the film.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 21/10/2010 18:36

Moi aussi Blush on second thoughts
( French for ''I am an Australian'', I am told)

Theresaholeinyourmind · 21/10/2010 18:38

That last to Mrs LN, sorry Flowers I didn't see you

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 21/10/2010 18:40

PS In the interests of comparative research, if anyone finds it, I would be willing to watch the clip in which Guy says beg. For Art, you understand.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 21/10/2010 18:45

I can recommend it as a moment of pure aesthetic genius, Flowers. Just the thought of it does it for me every time. Blush
I have to go.

40deniertights · 21/10/2010 18:53

Hello. I was on earlier and have had to name change. Flowers it might have been foolish watching N and S with DH in room. Did you struggle to explain the actual dribbling that I assume went on?

Does anyone know what upcoming swoonfests important cultural events we have to look forward to. There are only a few left of spooks.....

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 21/10/2010 19:01

Tights - My reaction tends towards the wide-eyed, speechless swoon rather than the dribble, so I may have managed to hide the worst excesses from DH. Besides which, he liked the book as much as I did (maybe he harbours a secret Margaret Hale obsession admiration?)

As for upcoming swoonfests, there is said to be a production of The Rover, in which (one last name drop) I saw Jeremy Irons very many years ago when memories of the swoonfest that was Brideshead Revisited were still warm. I am hoping assuming that The Rover would be on in London and might involve some floppy white shirt action.

I have just failed to persuade DH to make me to Dublin to see Mr Rickman in John Gabriel Borkman. I would call him a meanie, except that he bought me my almost worn out cherished dvd of N&S.

cornishpasty · 21/10/2010 20:57

Theresahole - no need to ditch CD's for the Clarissa downloads.
You should be able to download each part on to your computer and then listen to it from there (I use windows media player).
You don't need an mp3 player to transfer it to.
I'd highly recommend it. Mr Lovelace is very bad but that gives RA plenty of chance to sound bad but still so sexy!!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 21/10/2010 21:32

But (if one so wishes) how does one get the files onto the iPod? I thought I'd managed to download it but the files have apparently fallen into the inaccessible depths of the PC.

PrairieOyster · 22/10/2010 09:40

Can I just have a total fangurl moment and squee!!! at the news that RA has been cast in a major role in the upcoming Hobbit movies, as the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield!!!. With that and his role in Captain America as a baddy...well I'm in fan heaven!!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 22/10/2010 11:01

Oh Lawks. I can't bear Tolkein at the best of times and am struggling to get my head around the idea of a 6' 2" dwarf - the joys of CGI, I assume. Do you think he'll have to wear a floppy white shirt?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 22/10/2010 11:35

Hard work trawling through all these clips, but someone's got to do it.

Flowers, that was my thought exactly. Maybe he'll have to do the reverse of the vertically challenged leading man on the orange box thing, and work in a pit.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 22/10/2010 11:44

EUREKA !!!!
You have to stay with it for a bit but eventually comes up with the goods.
Not too sure about the long hair, but as they say, beggars can't be choosers

40deniertights · 22/10/2010 11:51

Yes! I saw this this morning! This thread is making my obsession interest worse not better!
DH loves Tolkien type stuff so I will be pretending to make a huge sacrifice in going to see it and then "claiming back" for weeks!!

hahahah

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 22/10/2010 12:05

Ah yes. DH and (probably) DD will be v v keen on any filmic intepretation of the Hobbit so I too may make a huge sacrifice and go with them taking DH's binoculars. But I fell asleep within the first half hour of Lord of The Rings so may not actually get to see Mr A crawling around in a ditch, trying to look like a midget. Do you think it might be in 3D for extra depth and impact?

Will save that YT clip for a special treat this evening. Well done, theresaholeinyourmind, on your sterling work in the YT basement!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 22/10/2010 12:16

Grin I dunno, Flowers, I know Mr A is supposed to like naughty but holey tights might come over a tad slutty

PrairieOyster · 22/10/2010 13:00

I don't care what he looks like in The Hobbit - coz he'll be amazing whatever. And it could lead to so much more...

brooke73 · 22/10/2010 13:20

Theresaholeinyourmind - that clip was fab!!! Don't usually go for long hair, but RA is absolutely gorgeous as Guy, and the words in the song are pretty spot on aswell Smile

Theresaholeinyourmind · 22/10/2010 13:40
is pretty damn nice too. Have we seen it before?

I am not too keen on the music, though. Not gritty enough for the visuals IMHO
